About the Job
The role sits within the Private Markets Business Management team at Allianz Global Investors, supporting the Global CIO Office and senior investment leadership across the private markets platform. The team acts as a strategic and operational hub between investment teams, senior management, risk, finance, and distribution, with responsibility for business planning, governance, and execution of cross-platform initiatives. Core activities include supporting private credit, infrastructure, and real assets strategies through performance monitoring, KPI development, fundraising support, and preparation of executive-level materials for investment and governance committees. The function also plays a key role in strategic projects such as platform growth initiatives, acquisitions, and organizational transformation across the private markets business.
This position is based in our Munich office.
What you do
- Support the Private Markets Business Management team in the preparation of executive-level strategic documents for senior management committees, including investment cases, strategy papers, business planning materials, and decision memos used at Global CIO and ExCo level
- Contribute to end-to-end strategic problem solving, structuring ambiguous questions, developing analytical frameworks, and synthesizing quantitative and qualitative inputs into clear, decision-oriented narratives
- Support annual and multi-year business planning and strategic reviews, including bottom-up analysis of AUM growth, revenue and cost drivers, and consolidation of inputs into coherent management perspectives
- Provide analytical support for organizational scaling and resource planning, including FTE tracking, cost modeling, and scenario analysis to inform platform optimization and growth decisions
- Support platform-wide transformation and optimization initiatives, including development of financial impact assessments, operating model analyses, and executive-ready materials outlining trade-offs, risks, and recommendations
- Assist with selected corporate development activities, including market and target screening, high-level strategic and financial analysis, and preparation of management materials to support potential acquisitions, partnerships, or platform investments
- Develop and maintain management dashboards, KPIs, and analytical tools used by senior leadership to monitor performance, resource allocation, and progress against strategic initiatives
- Conduct ad-hoc strategic, financial, and market analysis, including peer benchmarking, market sizing, sensitivity analysis, and evaluation of strategic options
- Support governance and senior committee processes, including preparation of agendas, briefing materials, and structured follow-up on decisions and action items. Interact directly with senior stakeholders across investment teams, finance, risk, HR, and distribution, requiring strong communication skills and comfort operating in a complex, matrixed organization
- Take ownership of discrete workstreams within broader strategic initiatives, operating with a high degree of autonomy, rigor, and accountability relative to internship level.
What you bring
- You are currently enrolled in or have recently graduated from a top-tier university with a strong academic record in Business Administration, Management, Strategy, Finance, Economics, or a closely related discipline
- Ideally you bring strong track record in finance, consulting, or strategy placements
- Prior experience in top-tier management consulting, strategy consulting, investment banking, private equity/private credit, corporate strategy, or corporate development is strongly preferred
- Demonstrated exposure to executive-level materials, such as strategy decks, investment cases, business plans, or decision memos for senior management
- Experience working in complex, matrixed organizations or fast-paced project environments is a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to structure ambiguous questions and translate analysis into clear, decision-oriented outputs
- High level of proficiency in PowerPoint (executive storytelling, structured slides) and Excel (financial analysis, scenario modeling, data synthesis)
- Comfort working with financial and operational data, including AUM, revenue, cost, and headcount metrics
- Ability to synthesize complex quantitative and qualitative information into clear, concise narratives suitable for senior leadership and investment committees
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence interacting with senior stakeholders
- Consulting-style mindset: hypothesis-driven thinking, attention to detail, and focus on practical recommendations
- Highly motivated, intellectually curious, and comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy
- Strong ownership mentality and ability to manage multiple workstreams in parallel under tight deadlines
- Professional maturity, discretion, and sound judgment when working on sensitive strategic topics
- Ability to use Microsoft Copilot, with a strong commitment to ethical and responsible AI practices
- Fluent in English (written and spoken) is required. German language skills are preferable, but not mandatory.
