An excellent career opportunity exists with Underwriting Services, GCS Operations team as an Underwriting Assistant in our downtown Toronto location. In this position, you will play a meaningful role in supporting our GCS Underwriting teams that are driven every single day to think bigger, do better for our customers, and achieve desired results.

Your role is to learn and grow, to develop as a valued member of the Underwriting Services team and be working towards an underwriting career path.  In this role, you will support and aid our GCS National underwriting team with the processing of commercial policies and underwriting transactions and reports within assigned authority including new and renewal business and endorsements.  Proficiency and accuracy when assisting the team with processing of documents including providing administrative and clerical support for underwriters and other stakeholders is critical to the role.

What you'll do:

· 
Working both collaboratively and autonomously while ensuring deadlines are met as part of a hybrid team is critical to the success of this role

· 
Assisting GCS Central Support in logging new submissions, processing declinatures and as back up to Service Support Assistants

· 
Assisting GCS Underwriting with renewal and endorsement preparation as assigned while completing electronic filing of underwriting documents

· 
Assisting GCS Central Support and Underwriting preparing loss control reports, ordering D&B reports, preparing various analysis reports, insurance binders and other documents as required for underwriters and key stakeholders

· 
Responding to broker service requests on behalf of underwriting as well as following up on information needed from brokers on behalf of underwriting

· 
Data entry in RTM, RTG, Salesforce and inhouse systems while ensuring the integrity of data is top priority

· 
Timely reconciliation of financial discrepancies working collaboratively and effectively with GCS Stakeholders

· 
Produce reports, presentations and information summaries as required

· 
Special projects as required

What you'll bring:

· 
Completion of a related educational degree/diploma and/or accreditation.

· 
Ideal candidate has 1-2 years’ strong experience in an administrative and support function with proven attention to detail and accuracy while executing above average time management skills in an underwriting environment is preferred.

· 
You will need to be confident and comfortable to manage a healthy level of autonomy while being accountable to various teams for the responsibilities of your role.

· 
Excellent technical aptitude with web and DOS based systems and databases; strong working knowledge of Microsoft office Suite for essential programs Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.  Proficiency in creating professional-looking documents, spreadsheets, and small presentations, manage emails, and stay organized with calendars and to-do lists is needed.

· 
Excellent oral and written communication skills with the capability to communicate at all levels (with internal and external partners) is meaningful to the role.

· 
Excellent articulation via phone, email, and in a meeting setting in both French and English is an asset.

· 
Superior organization and time-management skills with the ability to adapt in a dynamic, priority-changing environment is critical for success in this role.

·

Hybrid working model - This role is a hybrid role.  You will be required to work in the Toronto, First Canadian Place location two days a week and as needed, working remotely when not in office.  At Aviva, we offer flexible work in office locations once you’re settled in your role and working independently.
