Job description
Within Aviva Digital we play a key role in delivering high profile software solutions which support our strategic customer propositions and products. This delivery is achieved through Agile Scrum teams which includes Developers, Testers, Analysts and Solution Designers.
As well as high profile initiatives, our Scrum teams also maintain our existing solutions to improve code quality against our core development principles.
We are looking for Test Engineers to join the API team within our Digital organisation to test and maintain the restful APIs that will underpin both ours and our partners' digital apps. As an Aviva Test Engineer, you will sustain our culture of continuous improvement from both a process and technical perspective.
Duties & Responsibilities

You will deliver high quality testing through modern engineering techniques such as test-driven and behaviour driven development, automation and service virtualisation
· Define feature files and implement step definitions using Java and Cucumber
· You will support the definition of the future platform operating model and provide recommendations into the test resources, processes and standards required
· You will highlight blockers impacting the Scrum teams functional and non-functional testing and either owning resolution or requesting they are mitigated and raised as appropriate
· You will ensure the quality of all testing for stories assigned to you within your Scrum team
· Where agreed and appropriate, you will monitor the quality of testing provided by another Quality Engineer within the Scrum team
· You will ensure compliance by suggesting improvements to quality standards and processes
· Communicate the status of testing and workload management to colleagues and business partner’s
· Engage with project teams to ensure the acceptance criteria for incoming stories meet all quality requirements
· You will support input into assurance sign-off of new platform deliveries into runway and staging environments
· Maintain awareness of and compliance with relevant release management or assurance processes and standards
Skills and experience required
·
You will have platform quality standards & processes support test quality
· You will ensure SOLID and/or KISS principles are followed
· You will design, build and test software that is cloud ready
· You will have excellent IT test or development engineering skills
· You will have worked in IT test or development roles within PQM, performance engineering and/or operational acceptance
· Experience in automated testing ideally with recognised testing or development qualification
· You will have strong interpersonal skills and experience of working in Agile or similar project teams
· You will have a deep understanding of API architecture (ideal but not essential)
