About the Team
Aviva Ireland have a new vacancy for a permanent Senior Legal Counsel who will provide integrated in-house regulatory and governance legal advice to our Life & Pensions business in Ireland.
To be considered for this position you must have substantial PQE, and a solid understanding relating to pensions or life and/or investment products (e.g. BPAs/re-insurance). You will also have experience within a large corporate private practice or a Financial services firm dealing directly in the aforementioned products.
This position lies in a busy and strategically important team which delivers first class legal advice and manages diverse client relationships across the UK and Irish business divisions.
You will be joining a committed and collaborative team in Dublin, reporting to the Head of Legal at Aviva Life and Pensions Ireland DAC and will be based in the Aviva’s Cherrywood office with hybrid ‘smart working’ available.
You must have valid Irish, UK, or EU work rights to be considered for this role
Location: Cherrywood, Dublin 18 with hybrid working
Duties and Responsibilities:

Providing legal advice with support to all areas of the business
·
Assist the Head of Legal and wider legal team with identification and prudent management of legal, regulatory and reputational risk
·
Act as “business enabler”, helping key decision makers to achieve commercial and strategic goals consistent with laws and regulations
·
Provision of general legal advice and assistance in relation to (new) business initiatives, programmes, services and products
·
Commercial contract drafting/negotiation (agency/investment management/custody agreements etc.)
·
Experience with Reinsurance, Bulk Purchase Annuities and pension products optimal but not essential.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:

Substantial PQE previous in-house experience essential in a Financial Services/Regulatory environment. Ideal candidate will have insurance and/or pensions experience but familiarity with regulatory landscape required.

Proven ability to influence effectively, build business relationships and gain the trust of senior executives
·
Clear critical thinking underpinned by strong commercial acumen
·
Ability to work on own initiative in a dynamic environment
·
Passionate, driven, with high personal integrity
·
Excellent drafting and negotiation skills, proven effectiveness at managing contract negotiations from inception to close
·
Commercial experience and experience with Outsourcing desirable
·
Familiarity with Data Protection Law desirable
