Job description

Project Archivist – Circa £30k (ARA salary recommendations taken into consideration)

Location – Norwich with ability to work on-site most days

Contract – 1 year

Aviva is seeking a dedicated Project Archivist for a fixed-term role to manage, assess, and organize a newly acquired collection of historical documents. This role requires a passionate individual eager to handle the appraisal and cataloging of legacy records, ensuring their preservation and accessibility.

The project is initially for 1 year, with the possibility of extension, and it is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of a discrete piece of work with tangible impact. There is also the potential to work with the Group Archive on other activities.

This position is ideal for an emerging professional with a qualification in Archives and Records Management or who is currently pursuing one, and has a background in a relevant area, demonstrating foundational skills and understanding necessary for archival work.

A bit about the job:

· 
Manage transfer of material from onsite storage

· 
Make appraisal decisions in conjunction with Aviva’s archivists

· 
List and arrange records for long-term preservation

Skills & Experience required

· 
A qualification in archives and records management, or equivalent (those working towards qualification will be considered)

· 
Experience of working with paper-based collections

· 
Cataloguing experience and knowledge of cataloguing systems

· 
An interest in business archives

Salary Circa £30k (ARA salary recommendations taken into consideration)
