Role Description
An exciting and rare opportunity for an in-house VAT focused role at Assistant level in Norwich. The successful candidate will support the Group’s VAT compliance and get involved in delivering high quality VAT advice to a progressive and diverse business with opportunity to develop and progress into other taxes.
The duties and responsibilities will include:
- Accurate & timely indirect tax returns and computations.
- Dealing with queries raised by nominated business units including drafting advice for presentation to managers.
- Review of standard responses to property transaction queries for manager approval.
- Review of Option to Tax documentation.
- Awareness of external developments, knowledge and skills disseminated within the tax team.
- Identification and review of supplies from overseas suppliers for reverse charge process.
- Ensuring PX Cube and IDEA software are used efficiently within the team, taking the lead in optimising their use, ensuring that relevant staff are fully trained in improvements, updates are fully tested and integrated with no disruption to the Group, and any issues raised and resolved promptly.
- Seeking continuous improvement in the indirect tax processes in particular making good use of technology.
- Design and implementation of improved processes to maintain tax reporting for the Aviva VAT Group.
The ideal candidate will be looking to study toward a professional tax qualification, and we can offer study support for the right candidate. You will have a flair for numbers, and good excel skills are essential as you will work extensively with this programme on a day to day basis.
