Finance Adviser -Tax

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000

We are looking for a Tax Adviser to be part of the Tax team, which provides expert tax services to both the UK and Irish companies within the Group and to Aviva Investors (as manager of a range of regulated and unregulated funds), the role involves working with colleagues across multiple locations and teams.

The tax team covers a wide scope including Operational and

Transaction Taxes, Insurance Premium Taxes, Corporation Tax, Life Tax, VAT and Employment Taxes.  

This role will primarily be focussed on providing operational tax analysis and support relating to investment assets held worldwide but may include work involving some other taxes.

A bit about the job:

This role is required to support the provision of best practice processes and controls across a range of operational and transactional tax issues arising from investment assets of the Aviva Group and Aviva managed funds. 

This includes ensuring compliance with worldwide tax regimes, monitoring of achieved withholding tax rates against operational tax assumptions across the custodian base and ensuring appropriate documentation is available to support relevant business transactions and investment assets.

The day-to-day responsibilities of the role will include:

·  Analysing data and liaising with colleagues across the business and within custodian banks to ensure appropriate documents are in place and accruals held.
·  Ensuring accurate and relevant operational tax documentation is in place across the business.
·  Managing time and workload to ensure documents to enable relief at source or reclaims of withholding tax are prioritised correctly and completed within deadlines.
·  Help to collate information to support submission of and response to enquiries on foreign withholding tax reclaims.
·  Ongoing consideration of process improvements and development of process automation.
·  Support Senior Accounting Officer process/analysis of Stamp Duty Reserve Tax reports.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

·  Knowledge of finance and tax may be an advantage but not essential if the successful candidate has the ability and willingness to learn quickly and document different requirements in the overseas markets and an ability to readily evaluate and effectively communicate the impact of new developments.
·  Good communication and organisation skills are essential as are being able to proactively manage workloads independently as work will be received into a team mailbox as well as provided by more senior team members.
·  They will be a team player with an open, collaborative, and proactive approach, willing to test new ideas and embrace change, looking for opportunities to identify and address key issues and simplify existing processes.
·  Strong capabilities in Excel are essential, as is good experience of creating and editing documents. Experience with Microsoft Lists would be an advantage.

·  Salary between: £30,000 - £35,000 (location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
