Job description

We have a superb opportunity for an ambitious and enthusiastic Commercial Lines Underwriter to join our Commercial Lines underwriting team. You can be based anywhere commutable to our Cork or Dublin office.

You will be an experienced Property and Casualty commercial underwriter joining a high performing team.

You must have valid Irish/EU/UK work rights to be eligible for this role.

In this role, you will have responsibility for managing a commercial underwriting portfolio, through our broker network. Our underwriter teams deal with commercial line risks within designated underwriting authority and in-line with Aviva’s business plan. The role will involve achieving business goals by providing excellent underwriting capability in property and liability classes – along with a high-quality service to brokers enabling growth and profitability.

Duties & responsibilities:

·  Making independent underwriting decisions in an informed and timely manner on commercial property and liability products.
·  Building positive relationships with brokers and collaborating across teams.
·  Providing authoritative knowledge to brokers and colleagues.
·  Follow best practice for quality and risk/control.

Skills & experiences required:

·  Proven Commercial lines underwriting experience and authority in one or more Commercial Lines products – Liability or Commercial Property.
·  Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making abilities.
·  A background of robust negotiation and influencing skills.
·  Track record of end-to end responsibility for cases and prioritising workloads.
·  Achieved or working towards professional insurance qualifications/industry accreditations (APA Commercial, CIP, ACII, etc.)
