Job description
A new and exciting opportunity exists in our National Commercial Insurance Enablement team. As a Commercial Underwriting Analyst, Small Business you will work closely with the Ally Product Manager and IT partners to implement new features, regular rate and rule changes, as well as assist in defining underwriting criteria and appetite, for the Ally application and Onpoint product. You will bring strong underwriting knowledge and an ability to think outside the box in order to create efficient processes, while not compromising on underwriting quality. The role is located at our downtown Toronto office, with flexibility to work from Head Office in Markham.
Accountabilities:
· Work with Business Analysts to define business requirements for new features, underwriting criteria and expanded appetite, as well as ongoing rate and rule changes in Ally
· Develop and maintain Ally underwriting guidelines, manuals and procedures
· Assist in prioritization of new features, improvements and defects, with business benefits in mind
· Develop and deliver training around Ally and the Onpoint product for both internal and external users
· Collaborate with various internal stakeholders in order to gather feedback around the Onpoint product and Ally application
· Develop and maintain a knowledge and understanding of company operations and procedures, including demographic, economic, and social characteristics to increase market share
· Maintain corporate and Regional underwriting objectives, including but not limited to rate adequacy, segmentation strategies, documentation and services standards.
Required Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:
· College or University Degree
· CIP designation (or in progress)
· At least 5 years of experience in commercial insurance underwriting, with Property and Casualty knowledge
· Ability to work both independently and as part of a team while meeting deadlines
· Strong decision making abilities
· Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
· Excellent problem solving and analytical abilities
· Highly motivated and enthusiastic
· Excellent communication skills
