Our Global Corporate and Specialty (GCS) is a general insurance (GI) business that provides insurance solutions for large corporate and multinational customers. Its core product lines are Property, Casualty, Auto, Surety, and Equipment Breakdown (EBI).
We have a new opportunity for a Senior Underwriter, Casualty in our Corporate Risk team. You will be a qualified Casualty Underwriter working on a portfolio of Corporate exposures. Your primary focus and responsibility will be to work on new business and renewal business, and creating the corresponding deal with a focus on casualty business and casualty underwriting. Deals will focus on Large Commercial accounts with annual sales greater than $200M in revenue for both Domestic and Multinational exposures.
The role will be client/broker facing while working under a national mandate (working on all lines of business) to identify new business opportunities as well being able to provide outstanding technical expertise to surmise the value of the “deal”.
You must be able to operate at both a macro and micro level so that a successful deal is understood and can be developed. The role must also be able to navigate the Aviva structure and national broker structure in an effort to get things done with a high level of energy and collaboration to ensure success.
What you'll do
· Large Commercial and Multinational Business Development and Underwriting
· Focus on new business generation – national scope, deal making role
· Complex Risk, Casualty, assessment of opportunities
· Qualify potential deals for appetite and profit opportunity
· Constructs initial deal for review with Sr. Management
· Ability to navigate Aviva (internally) to get things done
· Ability to assess sophisticated deals from a macro perspective and make “tough” decisions
· Ability to qualify and underwrite deal to ensure benefit from both top line and profitability perspective
· Ability to build strong partnerships and collaborate to ensure win/win for Aviva and the Broker
What you'll bring
· University degree or college diploma in Insurance
· CIP (or equivalent)
· 10-15 years' of technical commercial lines Casualty underwriting business experience
· Proficient technical knowledge of complex risks in line of business and segments
· Excellent written/verbal communication skills & negotiating skills.
· Ability to problem seek and to make/impact decisions.
· Strong leadership, negotiation and influencing skills
· Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.
· Very strong marketing and relationship building skills with internal and external partners
· Seeks opportunities to improve broker/customer experience
· Professional attitude, teamwork, strong pipeline management/sales consultation skills
· Good understanding of line of business; discusses barriers with leadership
· Developing proficiency in applying highly niche knowledge and expertise of complex risks for large commercial accounts
· Proficient in sales data analytics to generate leads
