Job description
This senior role will lead the big data delivery team to develop, support and maintain high quality IT software applications that deliver and align to business and architecture data strategies. A passionate leader who will design, shape and execute the data delivery platform transformation with best in class data management tools, data platforms and data integration solutions aligning with global architecture.
We are looking for an individual who will lead and manage the operations of a development team, embed engineering disciplines, lead and manage supply and demand and vendor relationships, and develop required capability and talent within internal and partner teams.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
Leading the cross functional team to ensure that delivery achieves approved budget, schedule and required functionality with high quality.
Provide support with the development of medium to long term data roadmap
Ensure the advancement of delivery standards and documentation across data programs and projects.
Provide support to Operations to ensure applications are stable, efficient, and supportable
Develop and refresh data development and delivery practices
Delivery of relevant data management tools, data platforms and data integration solutions aligned with business demand and data architecture and delivery strategies
Provide leadership, mentoring, and coaching. Manage and coordinate strategic direction for staff. Attract, retain, develop, and motivate top talent. Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with direct reports reviewing individual development plans and providing performance feedback.
Implementation of Hadoop, Agile, Software Engineering and Systems Thinking in line with software delivery
Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and key partners
Accountability for third party supplier resource utilization to ensure efficient and cost effective delivery of services to Solutions Delivery and the wider Aviva Group
Accountability for appropriate measures on performance of third parties and clear cost control of current and forecasted resource costs
Lead contractual governance of outsource partners
Lead, influence and contribute to the technical capability of our products to ensure they are best fit for our customers
Lead and work with a team of technical experts on Cloudera, Informatica (BDM, PowerExchange and PowerCentre), Oracle, Teradata, SAP Business Objects, QlikSense, etc.
Lead and manage the team within allowable budget with accurate and timely management of reporting against performance
Collaborate with Finance to ensure budget and financial performance of the department aligns with corporate objectives.
Create a high-performance team that has a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and is focused on business outcomes
Be a thought leader and organizational change agent who can help foster a data-driven culture while simplifying the data ecosystem and improving the organizational speed-to-insight
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION .
• Degree in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent
EXPERIENCE
Minimum 10 years' experience successfully leading Data organizations with expertise in building large-scale enterprise data assets
Experience with Hadoop stack and PostgreSQL, understanding of Scrum and running Agile Teams in a fast paced dynamic environment
Experience with Informatica product suite (BDM, PowerCenter, Metadata manager, MDM, etc.) and Business
Intelligence tools (QlikSense, SAP Business Objects)
Strong leadership and influencing skills at the senior management level
Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills
Experience establishing frameworks for data quality, data governance, stewardship and metadata management
Expereience with building data lakes/warehouses/marts that are downstream from packaged applications such as Guidewire
Action oriented with a willingness to challenge the status quo
Experience embedding strong engineering standards and systems thinking
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Strong stakeholder management
Strong operational management of large internal and outsourced IT delivery
Excellent supplier and commercial management
Solid understanding of Project and Program Management processes
High level consultancy skills
Technical expertise with design and implementation of enterprise data warehouse, big data analytics platforms, master data management and data integration solutions (e.g. Cloudera, Informatica, Oracle, Teradata)
Ability to lead large data-related portfolio that includes transformational initiatives
In depth knowledge of data management strategies, practices, and principles
Advanced knowledge and experience with ETL mapping and scripts and SQL
Strong intellectual curiosity to keep pace with evolving data landscape and technologies in emerging areas: Big Data, Hadoop, Visualization tools, Advanced Analytics, BI Virtualization, Cloud, etc.
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
Possess a combination of solid business knowledge and technical expertise with strong leadership skills
Insurance experience an asset
