Actuarial Senior Manager
Salary Circa £110,000
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Actuarial Manager within the Life Actuarial team, a part of the Group Actuarial Function team. The team supports the Group Chief Actuary and Capital Officer in delivering the actuarial activities of his role. The team reports into the Group Actuarial Function Director who is the Aviva International Insurance (AII) Chief Actuary and we support him in fulfilling his SMF20 responsibilities for Aviva’s internal reinsurer. Additionally, we help the Group Chief Actuary and Capital Officer ensure the Internal Model remains fit for purpose by managing validation activity for the model as well as the annual model change exercise. As part of these roles, we collaborate with local Actuarial Functions and assist the Chief Actuary in ensuring appropriate oversight. Other tasks include ad-hoc projects such as IAIS reporting and Solvency UK reform.
A bit about the job:
The person in this role will be work with the Group Chief Actuary and Capital Officer helping him to undertake his responsibilities as Chief Actuary including communicating actuarial information to the Group Board Committees.
In addition, the successful candidate will manage AII’s Actuarial activities, supporting the AII Chief Actuary.
The individual would:

Run the end to end process for the validation of AII and Group’s Internal Model SCR;
·
Liaise with the BU teams to understand and challenge actuarial methodologies as well as be able to communicate them succinctly to the Boards (both AII and Group)
·
Engage with the production teams and play a meaningful role in reviewing and challenging the calculation of the SCR and technical provisions;
·
Ensure a collaborative relationship with the AII Finance & Risk teams, where we are seen as key contributors to the success and safety of AII;
·
Lead the annual process of drafting the Group and AII Actuarial Function reports and work towards presenting the Actuarial Function report to the AII Audit Committee;
·
Support the delivery of the Finance change agenda in the Group Actuarial Function;
·
Manage and improve controls on behalf of the AII Chief Actuary;
·
Optimise and automate tools and frameworks
Skills and experience we are looking for:
·
Qualified actuary with strong technical capabilities
·
Important to have knowledge of standard actuarial techniques and the Solvency II requirements
·
You should have a good understanding of risk management, and how a good control framework supports intelligent business decision-making
·
A good communicator who is able to understand actuarial concepts well and convey them clearly and concisely to those less close to the detail

Salary Circa £110,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
