We are looking for an Apprentice to join our London-based Underwriting team. 

  

The Opportunity 

Our Apprenticeship Program is the perfect opportunity to start your career with a global company in the dynamic and thriving insurance industry. 

Starting in September 2025, our Underwriting Apprentice program will allow you to develop a range of skills while spending two years working in one of our Underwriting teams. In addition to on-the-job development, you’ll spend 20% of your time participating in a Level 4 Insurance Specialist apprenticeship which will enable you to apply for your Diploma in Insurance from the Chartered Insurance Institute. This is an ideal opportunity for anyone looking to embark on a career as an Underwriter and will provide you with the knowledge, skills, and behaviors for success.  

 

Your Team 

Our team is committed to managing the Commercial lines of business within the Financial Lines sector, focusing on Management Liability. We work together to provide specialized insurance solutions that protect businesses and their leadership teams against various risks. With a deep understanding of the financial industry, our team ensures that clients are well-covered in areas such as directors’ and officers’ liability, employment practices, and more. In our dynamic and international environment, we collaborate to deliver tailored, innovative solutions, helping our clients navigate complex challenges with confidence. 

 

Some of your specific responsibilities during apprenticeship could include: 

· 
You will learn the underwriting process from the ground up, gaining a deep understanding of how the business operates and how it ties into underwriting decisions. 

· 
You will collaborate with different operational teams, gaining insights into their functions and how they support the underwriting process. 

· 
You will assist in applying this knowledge to underwriting tasks, ensuring that all aspects of the business are understood and properly reflected in insurance policies. 

· 
 You will contribute to the development of underwriting strategies, using the knowledge gained from operational functions to make informed decisions. 

· 
You will help ensure that underwriting processes are efficient, supporting continuous learning and improvements across the team. 

 

Eligibility 

· 
This position is designed for, and ideally suited to, school leavers holding 3 A-levels (or equivalent). Those with a higher level of qualification, such as a bachelor's degree, are advised to apply to one of our other early careers programs or direct entry roles: Allianz Careers  

· 
You must have achieved Level 2 in English and Math (equivalent to GCSE grade 9-4/ A*-C) 

· 
To comply with the apprenticeship eligibility rules, at the start of the apprenticeship, you must be aged 18 or over, living in England, not in full-time education, and have the right to work in the UK.

Good computer skills, including MS/Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Fluent English language skills.

 

Further Information: 

· 
The role is fixed term for 24 months, but we expect well-performing candidates to be converted into a permanent role before the end of this term. 

· 
We offer a generous study package with approximately 1 day a week dedicated to study  

· 
This apprenticeship will commence in September 2025. 

·
