Job Title : Warehouse Operator
Salary: Circa £20,775 + 40% shift allowance
Benefits: 25 days annual holiday, Bupa healthcare and pension
Location: Leeds

Background:
The Operator supports the performance of the warehouse which is modern in its operation and fast paced. The Operator will split their time between keeping IT systems updated and logging in information, taking phone calls, administration and using a FLT to load and unload pallets. Adhering to health and safety and operational requirements to ensure the safe delivery of products. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who leads by example, is looking to progress to a supervisory position, wants to take on new responsibilities and small projects.

KEY SKILLS & RESPONSIBILITES:

Operational Activities - The warehouse team member will be fully trained in all aspects of material handling and be able to undertake all warehouse duties in a fast paced, highly organised way, implementing world class manufacturing working methods. A willingness to be involved in projects onsite and gain further experience to progress into a supervisory role is important.
Further duties to include;
Palletisation support operator.
Finished goods dispatch and resolution of issues.
Safety & Quality investigation report initiation.
Support to the Supply Chain Coordinator

IT systems - Use of Microsoft Office and other systems including SAP.

FLT's – Previous experience driving a fork-lift truck safely in a fast paced environment. Must have licence.

Safety – Full knowledge and understanding of all safe practices and systems relevant to the Sourcing Unit and the legal responsibility placed upon individuals. Must actively contribute to the safe working environment.

Workplace Hazards - Full knowledge of workplace and hazards within it. Utilise appropriate safety and environmental procedures for people, processes, materials, products and equipment relevant to the task. Reporting of near misses and tags.

Environment – Minimises the impact to health, safety and the environment by working to eliminate waste. Works to reduce the costs caused by waste and hazardous material and ensures they are handled correctly. Must actively contribute to an eco-efficient environment.

Continuous Improvement – Proactive approach to improvement, making recommendations for improving processes and working methods where applicable. An awareness of how to use performance measures to identify and prioritise losses in production area. Collection of data on warehouse losses, analyse causes, implement solution, and monitor results.

Provides description of problems through the monitoring of process or line issues. 5S, kaizen and lean knowledge are not essential but very beneficial.

Teamwork – Must be a good team member capable of working within a highly effective team; responsible, supportive and reliable.

Communication – Can adequately communicate issues relating to safety and can provide operational observations and inputs to support decision making by team leaders.

Physical Ability – Operators require a level of agility to move quickly between workstations, including manual handling tasks.

Administration – Conducts effective hand-over activities and accurately records events that have occurred during shift

OTHER REQUIREMENTS :
Must be flexible within pattern of shift work to accommodate factory shutdowns, training courses, absence, holidays etc.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:


ESSENTIAL:



FLT experience including a licence
Previous experience within a fast paced warehouse
Proactive, flexible mindset
Applicant must be a committed team worker with a strong sense of responsibility and good attention to detail.
Effective communication skills and an agile mind are essential as are good numeracy and written skills.

PREFERRED / DESIRABLE:
Experience of manufacturing in a Fast Moving Consumer Goods Company is desirable but not essential.
Knowledge of SAP is desirable
