SALARY: £31,098 - £38,873 depending on experience
MAIN JOB PURPOSE:
Packaging is a critical function within Unilever and we partner with the world's leading packaging suppliers. Our Packaging Capability organisation is charged with defining how we do Packaging in Unilever.
The UX Designer is a member of the Packaging Excellence Team and reports to the Digital Experience Change Leader. The purpose of the UX Designer is, to establish user experience design practices for Packaging's internal digital tool development through applying collaborative design techniques and user/client centred communication approaches. This will help deliver valuable, usable, appealing and engaging digital enterprise user experiences underpinning the strategy to Disrupt through Digital.
As this is a cross category role there will be exposure within all 12 of Unilever's product categories and our Digital R&D partners and IT Innovation. There is the potential, based on the candidates' success in the role, for exposure at senior levels in the Packaging organisation.
JOB SUMMARY
As a UX Designer, your job will be to support in establishing a user centred approach to Unilever Packaging's digital solution design and development. This will involve hands on UX design yourself as well as coordinating UX design activities with partners to:
· Support the transformation of how packaging users make decisions . Craft experiences and user stories to drive definition of usability in parallel with features and functional requirements of digital tools. Shaping the future of data capture, digital knowledge management and modelling and simulation tools through creative experience mapping exercises.
· Transforming processes and digital enablers . Create prototypes of the digital and PLM user experiences. Create usability tests such as contextual interviews and field studies. You will be the custodian and campaigner of how the Packaging Digital Experience Principles are applied in the development of internal digital tools.
· Engage the packaging community and stakeholders in the digital transformation . Deliver fluency and consistency in the communication of the experience design proposals to empathise with the user/client/stakeholders.
At the fundamental level, this is about knitting together the users' needs, the clients' goals, and the organization's priorities. The best user experience sits at the intersection of these concerns.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
· Appropriate experience in the design and testing of enterprise digital tools
· Cross Category / Cross functional experience desirable.
· Degree level qualification in science, design or engineering subject
· Design, Deploy, or Group Supply Chain role experience are all relevant / desirable
· Cross Industry experience desirable
· Strong connections to external UX and Design experts
· Human-Centred Design (Design Thinking) – problem solving approaches appropriate to designing new solutions that are tailor made to suit people's needs
· UX Design practice – Proven experience in UX methods and tools such as expert reviews, usability tests, wireframing, experience mapping, etc.
· Leadership – with a style appropriate to partnering and engaging Categories, business partners and suppliers through effective influencing rather than hierarchical authority
· Strong communication skills – The ability to engage and translate complex (and sometimes unexciting) subjects in a clear, concise and motivating manner
