Unilever Summer Internship within Marketing/ Sales, Finland

  • Internship
  • Helsinki (Helsingin seutukunta)

Job description

Unilever's Summer Internship is a great way to get to know Unilever and to get introduced to the world of business. You will join us for about 10 weeks during the summer months in the Unilever Office in Helsinki.

As a summer intern, you work alongside Unilever employees and a Line Manager with whom you set goals to measure your performance. As part of your program you are assigned a personal project that you deliver to the leadership team at the end of your program. You will learn loads, have fun, and students who successfully complete our summer internships will be considered as candidate for our Unilever Future Leaders Programme. Could it get better? – It sure can, this is a paid position!

In 2020, we offer summer internships in Marketing & Sales/Customer Development (one per each function). The internship period starts flexibly sometime between mid-May and beginning of July 2020 and lasts approximately 10 to 12 weeks.

Marketing
Marketing requires an expert knowledge of your brand, the people who use it and how to communicate with them. As a marketer at Unilever you work closely with our consumers – perhaps commissioning research into their likes, dislikes and behavior. You also liaise closely with external partners such as agencies in PR, advertising and pack design when e.g. realizing a campaign. In addition to this you speak with retailers, Unilever Brand Innovation Centers across the world, and our Supply Chain and Customer Management teams.

Being a global leader within the field of marketing, we will teach you all about strategy, brand positioning, understanding consumers, operations, customer management, communication and Innovation.

Customer Development
Without the right promotion or position and without the right level of interest from our customers – the people who actually sell the products to everyday consumers – we are not going to realize the potential of even our most successful brands. And that's where you fit in.
It is the job of our Customer Development team to persuade our customers to position our products, put up new displays, participate in special promotions and take the risk of buying lots of stock of something new and unfamiliar. When we say customers, we could mean supermarkets, convenience stores, petrol stations, news agents, chemists, restaurants, hotels - the list goes on. It is a fast moving and exciting place to be but working here takes a lot of skill. You need to manage relationships with retailers and wholesalers – building business in the long term and dealing with day-to-day issues as they arise. Essentially, you need to influence a whole range of people and you are at the heart of our business.

Your background and skills
· You are a first year master student graduating sometime in 2021
· Your educational background is preferably within marketing or sales and you have a passion for our brands.
· You are fluent in Finnish and English, both written and spoken.
· You have some work experience and you have most likely spent time living abroad, either as a student or work related.

Could this be U?

To get the most out of your time with us, we'd like you to be proactive in your own development. You take ownership of learning as much as you can about Unilever and the huge diversity of the business areas we have. We want to hear your ideas, so be ready to have an opinion and to speak up from day one. Furthermore, you are driven, team oriented and eager to learn.

Keeping our plastic in the loop

There is a lot of plastic pollution in the environment. And the fact of the matter is – too much of it carries our name. That is not OK with us. Plastic is a valuable material. It is crucial for the safe and efficient distribution of our products, and it has a lower carbon footprint than many alternative materials. So, it has its place. But that place is definitely not littering our streets, rivers and oceans. It is, however, inside the circular economy – where it is reused, recycled or composted. And where it is kept in a loop, to stop it from ever finding its way into the environment. If even one of our bottles ends up in the environment, that's one too many. Our plastic is our responsibility. That's why, we have announced new goals, that are even bolder than the ones we've been working towards up until now.

We are committing to halve our use of virgin plastic in our packaging and collect and process more plastic packaging than we sell… all by 2025.

Make every future a success.
