JOB TITLE: Technical Operators, Leeds – full & part-time opportunities available

SALARY: Starting at £20,670 per annum + £10,803 shift allowance

To a maximum of £23,853 per annum + £12,463 shift allowance

SHIFT PATTERN: 12 hour shifts, 2 x day shifts, 2 x night shift, 4 days off.

MAIN JOB PURPOSE:

As our volume demands are increasing we are looking for talented, passionate, highly-motivated people to fill our vacancies and gaps across the Leeds Sourcing Unit. Reporting to the Operations Leaders, this role forms part of a room team who are individually and collectively responsible for the safe and efficient operation of packing line equipment, ensuring products are available on the shelves, when our consumers want them – exceeding expectations with superior standards of quality.

JOB SUMMARY

· Knowledge and application of technical skills to operate machinery safely and effectively in order to meet the production plan.
· Conduct cleaning and lubrication as required.
· Possesses a basic knowledge of the principals of mechanism, motion and pneumatics.
· Work to and maintain cleaning and checking standards of machinery.
· Understands properties of materials being handled; performs correct adjustment and setting.
· Proactively works with Professional Maintenance and Quality Control staff to achieve zero breakdowns and zero defects.
· Carry out product and process changeovers/wash-outs to maintain quality standards whilst minimising the impact to the production plan.

The successful applicant will also be responsible for the following areas:

Safety, Workplace Hazards, Environment, Quality, Continuous Improvement and Problem Solving.

KEY REQUIREMENTS;

· Minimum education level;

§ GSCE/O-level, or equivalent, in Maths and English

§ Good IT skills: Able to use Microsoft Office Packages & experience of SAP

§ Basic Mechanical Training

· IIdeally previous experience in Production and/or Maintenance of a semi-automated production line or Apprenticed Trained

· Knowledge of practical methods, techniques and work process gained through some technical training to deliver focus improvements within their area. Knowledge and experience of applying problem solving tools such as 5W1H, 5WHY, 5S to deliver focused improvements within their area using the Kaizen process.

· Knowledge and insight of work processes. e.g. Attention to detail of allocating Line Losses; Accessing and complying with Product Specifications, correct ordering and use of materials, gained through comprehensive technical training and work experience.

· Experience of basic mechanical skills to be able to carry out maintenance tasks of multiple semi-automated production line equipment (Clean, Inspect, Lubrication and Refastening tasks). Experience of developing an Autonomous Maintenance programme to deliver zero breakdowns due to lack of basic conditions by identifying and tagging problems. Capable of using problem solving tools to develop practical solutions and improvements via Kaizens.

· The person has a bias for action and is capable of influencing and working within multi-disciplinary teams (Operations, Engineering, Safety, Quality & Logistics) to improve the line's Key Performing Indicators.

· Capable as acting as a Leader within their area and confident of providing concise feedback on performance in Daily Review Meetings. Can perform under limited supervision and can make decisions to minimize production losses and nurtures team working.
