SUIT Engineer
Job Summary
Aside from eating ice cream every day, the Project Engineer ensures that our manufacturing systems are running efficiently every day and that new equipment and projects are rolled out in the most effective way possible.
The role is critical to the development of our factories with an emphasis on effective design, startup and overall delivery of systems capable of meeting expected quality and safety requirements.
The Project Engineering role is responsible for capital project delivery across the site's manufacturing. Projects include product and process innovation, utilities and sustainability projects, and asset optimization. The Project Engineer is also responsible for supporting key initiatives in waste reduction and process optimization.
The role also supports our world class journey to zero defects, zero waste and zero losses and support technical training for line teams in phenomena identification, root cause analysis and the establishment of counter-measures associated with manufacturing equipment.
Key Deliverables
Capital Project Delivery including product innovations, process optimization, and utilities
Project Management, Planning, Cost Control and Post Launch Evaluations
Capital Forecasting and timely entry and close out of projects in capital software
Create technical Standards to ensure process stability
Train line crews on technical standards and restoration of basic conditions and replication of standards across lines
Support waste and Losses elimination according to the WCM prioritization process using AM, PM, FI and QC pillar tools and methodologies
Meet measured deliverables around:
Project Delivery on time, on budget, and to quality and safety standards
Operational Excellence metrics
Sustainability and utilities improvement targets
Waste and loss minimization targets
Key Requirements
Must have a 4 year degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering or similar
2 years minimum experience in FMCG / Engineering or related Industry is required
Must have strong experience in project management, particularly in planning, scheduling and cost control
Technical and supervisory experience in a combination of electrical, electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, instrumentations, automation, and/or computer fields required
Must have the ability to read, develop, and change schematic diagrams, equipment and architectural drawings
Ability to negotiate effectively with outside contractors and vendors is required
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to present findings and rationales clearly for a variety of audiences, including non-technical ones
Ability to collaborate with others who are different than you is an absolute requirement
Must have obvious enthusiasm, initiative, and pride in work and be able to charge forward with a challenging and pioneering spirit
Ability to clearly understand operating principles and establish correct operating standards while visualizing clearly what the ideal production system is
Must have experience with cost engineering and be able to make logical decisions based on data
Experience in statistics and process control tools preferred
Experience with World Class Manufacturing in the areas of AM, PM, Quality and FI tools and processes - preferred
Experience in refrigeration and utilities management preferred
