SHE Facilitator

Job description

MAIN JOB PURPOSE:

To facilitate the implementation of the SHE systems to reduce Occupational Health, Safety and environmental risks.

JOB SUMMARY

· Reviews SHE documentation to ensure compliance with Unilever SHE standards
· Ensures all factory documentation remains current, updating of SHE Communications boards
· Maintenance of the document management system including archives
· Develops and maintains SHE Non Conformances Corrective Action database from relevant sources e.g. accident reports, lessons learnt etc.
· Compiles and presents relevant SHE Training and Awareness Programs using various tools/media.
· Analyses and sources course content for safety and health related courses.
· Review training types and effectiveness.
· Collates and circulates safety literature.
· Prepare Monthly and Quarterly SHE performance review reports for areas responsibility.
· Ensures that all factory SHE documentation remains current.
· Interprets SHE legal requirements and ensures compliance.
· Advises line management and employees on SHE matters.
· Carries out SHE inspections and participates in HAZOP studies.
· Manages Contractor SHE Compliance and follows up on non-conformances
· Is responsible for the compilation of site emergency plans and the training of personnel to exercise these plans.
· Drives the identification of and implementation of preventative measures against SHE (including occupational health) hazards.
· Organizes occupational hygiene & environmental surveys in accordance with legal requirements.
· Conducts internal/departmental SHE audits, reports and action plans.
· Drives SHE KPI's through
· follow up and follows through of all SHE Action Plans and makes recommendations based on findings.
· Facilitate and ensure effectiveness of SHE Committees as well as all other relevant structures.
· Ensure all SHE incidents/accidents are reported, investigated with corrective and preventive actions
· Identify opportunities for continuous improvement
· Promotes Factory housekeeping and SHE awareness
· Analyses incident and housekeeping reports and presents to site management
· Advises and assists Medical Department with Workmen's compensation enquiries and claims
· Regularly audits the aspects of SHE – monthly/quarterly
· Implements new media/forums to improve SHE Management System and drive SHE Compliance
· Drives SHE culture by using various techniques i.e.. Behavioral Based Safety
· Works with multidisciplinary teams to reach factory SHE Targets
· Contributes towards UL Sustainable Living Plan

KEY REQUIREMENTS

· Environmental Health/ Safety Management Diploma, Environmental Management Degree
· Knowledge and basic interpretation of SHE legislation
· Knowledge and experience in First Aid, Fire Fighting Procedures, Equipment advantageous
· MS Office, e-mail and spreadsheets
· Drivers License
