Senior R&D Technologist – Skin Care Formulation development

Business Context and Main Purpose of the Job

·  Skin Care, ESP, face care is a big, growing, complex and highly competitive category in Unilever business, there is high ambition for UL to develop this category in new compass org.
·  UL own many competitive brands such as Ponds, VSL, Simple, Dove etc with leading business performance in key markets globally.
·  Premiumization is defined as key strategy for skin care category growth with high formula development/creation needs.
·  The role will be global formulation technologist for UL face care. Not only works as formulation stream expertise to develop new prototype in individual innovation project but also supports UL face care technology development roadmap update-delivery. Additional, contributes to resolve key technical issue in UL face care category.

Main Accountabilities

·  Lead face care new formulation development based on innovation needs. Joining innovation project management as formulation stream expertise to drive project OTIF.
·  Explore new face care formula technology via cooperation with UL S&T team and close tracking industry technical trends
·  Connect with each key regional RD network to understand consumer needs/preference and market trends for innovation opportunity exploration.
·  Responsibility for some necessary literature scan and competitor deep dive to inspire technical development pipeline setup.
·  Develop productive working relationship with a range of external partners (3rd Party Manufacturers, Suppliers, and university or research institution).
·  Responsible for risk management, intellectual property protection and patent, regulatory and SEAC clearance for new developed formulations

Key Skills&Relevant Experience

·  Experience in personal care products formulation development.
·  A “Can do” attitude that does whatever it takes to get the job done.
·  Good communication skills & proven ability to interact across a range of functions & leadership groups
·  Dealing with people from multicultural backgrounds.
·  Ability to work independently with Cross-functional team members
·  Understanding of Product Development Principles, R&D Processes and Protocols
·  Good data analysis skills
·  Excellent Digital acumen
·  Post Graduate with knowledge of Science (Chemistry, material science, Bio-Chemistry, Chemical Engineering is more preferred).
·  Prefer >1 year of working experiences on personal care product development
