Job Title: Laundry Global Category Senior Finance Manager
Location: 100VE
Background
Laundry is one of the largest categories for Unilever with a turnover of €8b comprising of well-known brands such as DiG, Comfort, Surf, Radiant and Skip. The strategic role for Laundry is to accelerate value creation and over the past 3 years the category has delivered a stellar improvement in profitability and cash flow whilst enhancing competitive growth – this is work in progress and needs to continue for the next few years. 80% of the category resides in D&E but with strong presence in the more developed markets in Europe and a foothold in North America post the acquisition of Seventh Generation.
Main Job Purpose
The Global Category Senior Finance manager is a senior agile partner within Home Care, with primary focus on the Laundry category yet with important x HC responsibilities:

Global Laundry Brands : The role works closely with the Fab Clean and Fab Con EVPs / GBVPs to help drive a successful Laundry strategy which future proofs the business and delivers on the ambitious margin agenda. The position is also the lead contact for rollout of Seventh Generation into more markets
·
Cross Home Care initiatives : The position is called upon to lead and drive the M&A agenda across Home Care, to help future proof the business supporting the strategic identification of assets and leading in business case development, closely working with the M&A director
· Drives business performance: through closer engagement with markets to drive performance up and leading various initiatives superior business cases, co steering elements of 5S programme, elevating NRM to orchestrate and create impact. The position works closely with the Finance Excellence team to drive high quality business case and business analytics for impact.
Pre-Future Finance, the role was done by a WL3 hence this a senior position and will be part of the Home Care FLT (which includes cluster and global Home Care finance leads). The candidate needs to be a Big Bet talent in the local geography, and success in the role should be a great set up for a WL3 next up.
Key Accountabilities
T he key accountabilities of the Sr Finance Manager are as follows:
Strategy:
·
Partnering the small C Laundry leads and directors in the development and execution of the brands' strategic plans, steering the innovation strategy and providing financial insights to build a future ready portfolio and providing financial insight and clarity on key drivers of performance to the business
·
Supporting the Division Finance VP to orchestrate the M&A agenda and lead development of global business cases
·
Driving the NRM agenda, especially leading the setting of strategic pricing / willingness to play levers and working closely with CMI partners
New business models and Innovation business cases:
·
Development of business cases for global innovations, in collaboration with the global brand teams, the regional counterparts as well as the R&D and CMI communities
·
Leadership and guidance to project teams to ensure better decision-making
·
Support in-market tracking of innovation and post-launch evaluations
·
Lead active portfolio reviews to facilitate priority setting and funnel management
·
Evaluation and implementation of new business models e.g. Smart Machines, Services, Direct To Consumer or E-Commerce
Drive Margin improvement:
·
Providing a key role in accelerating value creation through programmetic elevation of the margin agenda, across all levers – price, mix and cost and providing financial acumen and support on key elements of the 5S programme like Pi/Ci.
·
Financial modelling of alternative scenarios and putting the spotlight on the ones most appropriate to a given situation and course correcting actions to create impact. Evaluate risk and opportunities on margin to help prioritize cross functional team resources
·
Being the champion to drive margin accretive innovations and putting the spotlight on elevating marketing for value creation (margin accretive innovation, strategic pricing review, max the mix)
Budget management
·
Driving ZBB mindset and principles on how resources are allocated and managed.
·
Allocation of resources behind strategic priorities across 70/20/10 and driving ROI on investments
·
Drive efficient use of available production and fees budgets through analysis of spend and NWM ratio.
Line Management
This is an important leadership role with responsibilities to lead up, down and wide. Specific responsibility to coach and develop a combination of WL2/1s
Setting stretching targets and coaching individuals to high performance

Experience Required
·
Professional finance qualification equivalent to CA, CIMA, ACCA, MBA
·
Proven track record across assignments with strong roles in business partnering
·
Strong analytical and communication skills with ability to maintain poise under pressure and demonstrated evidence of influenced senior stakeholders
·
Managing and developing the team, both direct reports and peer relationships
