Scientist – Skin Care Design

Background & Purpose of the Job

The Global Skin Care Vaseline R&D Brand Design team is looking for a Scientist. Globally, Vaseline is a growing brand and has an ambition to become the next Unilever €1 Billion brand. The candidate for this position will be part of a team responsible for formulation and product development for Vaseline Skin Care, specifically for projects related to the everyday lotions as well as therapeutic lotions. These projects will be key for Vaseline to continue its' year on year growth and realize its' ambition. The vision for Vaseline is to own the “Healing” space in the skin care category and to compete and win in the fast growing therapeutic segment against brands like CeraVe, Cetaphil, Avenno and Gold Bond. Further, since the position is in the Vaseline Brand Design team, there will be future opportunities to work in or lead one or more of an exciting portfolio of projects that covers hand and body lotions, facial cleansing, facial moisturizers; men and women; Globally.

Who You Are & What You'll Do

Product Developer and work stream leader for Vaseline working with the Technical Project Leader and cross functional team. Interact with processing, packaging, consumer and clinical groups to design technologies that meet consumer needs. Formulate on bench, support consumer testing, clinical testing, scale-up, Safety/regulatory/patent clearance, along with recipe and specification creation. Maintaining a clean and safe working environment. Working knowledge of functional materials used to formulate lotions and interact with suppliers. Contribute in designing consumer testing protocols, and producing consumer test samples in support of consumer research needs. Interact with regional R&D partners to insure the flawless transfer and execution of innovations.

· You're a strategy guru: You will provide product options and develop, test and modify as necessary to meet consumer, customer and factory needs within a set timeframe and cost requirements.
· You're a dot connector: Deliver effectively within a cross functional team, understanding impacts of changes made by other functions and understanding how to deliver solutions when issues arise.
· You're a changemaker: You will bring new ideas and solutions to the table to deliver exciting innovations to the market place to help Vaseline and Skin Care win.


What You'll Need To Succeed

Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or Chemical Engineering with 1-2 years practical experience. Flexibility and open mindedness in achieving objectives is required. The candidate should work well in teams and demonstrate the ability to collaborate with others. The candidate should have previous experience in active participation in multidisciplinary team environment by working toward the completion of team initiatives, as well as personal objectives. The candidate must have strong technical, problem solving, communication and organizational skills.
