Background & Purpose of the Job
We are looking for a Refrigeration B Operator at our Ice Cream Manufacturing factory in Simcoe, Ontario. Our factory produces brand names such as Breyers, Ben & Jerry's, Magnum, Klondike, Popsicle, and Wall’s!
The Refrigeration B Operator will be responsible to operate all plant refrigeration and heating systems. In addition, this position requires the individual repair and maintain production related equipment and systems.
Who You Are & What You’ll Do
·
Operate the ammonia refrigeration system as outlined in the TSSA (Technical Standards and Safety Authority) regulations.
·
Conduct facility inspections on a regular basis and provide routine maintenance support for other non-refrigerated building mechanical devices.
·
Diagnose machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions.
·
Review work orders and discuss work with the Supervisor.
·
Perform scheduled preventative and predictive maintenance services.
·
Fill out logs and communicate with Supervisors, Managers and Equipment Operators on work performed.
·
Respond to emergency situations and support the operations of the buildings fire suppression system.
·
Repair and/or maintain compressors, air dryers, boilers, condensers, and water softener systems, as required.
·
Perform plumbing tasks, like repairing leaks and installing new lines.
·
All other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
·
Education - High School Diploma or GED (General Educational Development) equivalent and valid Refrigeration “B” (or A) ticket, in good standing with the TSSA
·
Ability to do basic mathematical calculations (additions, subtractions, divisions and calculation of percentages).
·
Demonstrate knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), HACCP (Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points), BRC (British Retail Consortium), FSSC (Financial Shared Service Centre), and proper employee hygiene practices to meet factory requirements.
·
Ability to do heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs) and work with minimal supervision.
·
Comfortable working in a hot and/or cold environment.
·
Experience inspecting equipment, structures, or material to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
·
Electrically inclined troubleshooting skills with (Variable Frequency Driver) VFDs and (Program Logic Control) PLCs is an asset.
·
Experience working in the food industry and working with packaging equipment would be a strong asset.
·
3rd class operating engineer or millwright experience would be a strong asset.
·
Must be able to work across shifts, including weekends.
