Job Title: R&D Site Controller - Colworth
Location: Colworth Science Park, PSL and Kingston considered
Travel: Yes monthly to Colworth if not based there
JOB PURPOSE
Colworth Unilever R&D is one of Unilever's global R&D centres, where we deliver industry-leading safety and sustainability science, as well as injecting creativity into our global ice cream and iced tea businesses. The over 500 employees at Colworth R&D site pioneers in science and technology, delivering market-leading innovation to create happy futures for people and the planet.
The R&D Site Controller is responsible for the financial books of Colworth R&D and provides financial support to the people on site. The controller is part of the Financial Controlling Europe organization, a regional team of finance professionals. You will be either working at the Colworth site or committed to monthly visits. Your key stakeholders will be Site Ops team, R&D teams on site, fellow Finance professionals in R&D Finance at Major Sites and BGs Teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES
R&D Site Controller
· Month End Close activities (Judgemental & Non-Judgemental Journal Entries)
· Liaising with OC and 3PSP on accounting activities
· Intercompany Invoices
· Approval for exceptional / urgent payments
· Prepare Government/Stat. Office Reporting Specific to R&D
R&D Site Business Partner to Site Ops Manager
· Monthly Site Budget Review and Forecast updates
· Working Capital Forecast
· Site Allocations/Recovery
· Site Special Projects
Operational Effectiveness
· Communicate Financial acumen and controls to all levels of the R&D organization
· 2nd line support to R&D site employees when stuck with Financial Systems and Processes
Site Fixed Assets
· Fixed Asset Accounting activities, Forecast, Consolidation & Verification
· Lease accounting activities
· Support & review of Fixed Assets Business Cases
· Review and sign off Site related Capital Proposals
Grants & Subsidies R&D UK
· Produce Documentation & Statements of R&D Grants & Subsidies
· Support Documentation for R&D Tax Credit (RDEC)
ALL ABOUT YOU
· Proven Finance experience
· Independent worker
· Proven track record in operating in complex operating environment
· Financial Skills: Accounting (SAP) and MS Excel
· Has a good understanding of Unilever accounting principles
· Customer Focused individual who instils value partnering
· Ability to build effective working relationships and communicate at all levels within the organization
· Accountable, responsible and action-driven individual
· Able to be flexible and resilient with the ability to shift gear in a fast-paced environment and deal with ambiguity
· Learning mindset, curious and eager to tackle new challenges

Recruitment Fraud
Cyber criminals advertise fake job adverts with prestigious employers as a way of stealing information or even defrauding individuals out of money. In the most sophisticated cases, they will set up fake websites, which have a similar address to companies like Unilever. They even conduct fake telephone interviews and then offer candidates a role with the proviso they pay a fee for background checks or to cover work visa costs. These types of attacks are becoming more common as more people are looking for employment in the economic climate.
How is Unilever tackling this?
Many of Unilever’s recruitment sites publish a warning to candidates about recruitment fraud. The Cyber Security team also proactively scan for signs of people setting up fake Unilever sites and act to close them down.
