JOB TITLE: Behavioural Psychologist
LOCATION: Colworth
SALARY: Competitive with bonus, Healthcare, Pension, Agile Working

MAIN JOB PURPOSE:

Unilever Refreshment Discover is a multi-disciplinary team of scientists and technologists responsible for developing new longer term science and technology opportunities for Unilever's Refreshment category. The position sits within a team that is focussed on developing innovations that enhance the total consumer Ice Cream and Beverage experience and proposition. The candidate will work and deliver across a range of global projects as part of diverse project teams comprising both Unilever internal, and frequently external, team members.

The applicant will be a strong consumer champion, committed to ensuring our products help consumers get the most out of life. They will have passion, drive and commitment to identify and apply the science required to create exciting, pleasurable experiences for consumers that deliver to Unilever's Sustainable Living Plan.

Ideally the applicant will have in-depth knowledge in a behavioural science field relevant to this sector, and enjoy the challenge of working more broadly across consumer and psychology fields to fit business or science challenges. Strong creative, strategic, communication and networking skills are also essential for this role.

The role is based in Colworth, Sharnbrook, Bedfordshire alongside the broader R&D Refreshment teams.

JOB SUMMARY

Create programme by bringing ideas on how to apply behavioural science to grow the business
Lead, design and manage scientific and consumer technical research to scope, shape and deliver opportunities for Unilever Refreshment.
Take responsibility for using appropriate, cost-effective ways to answer business questions using third parties
Work with quantitative and qualitative human studies and consumer insights towards clear conclusions and recommendations.
Lead project teams of multi-disciplinary colleagues depending on the needs of the project, such as study co-ordinators, physiologists, technicians and physical scientists
Communicate effectively to influence stakeholders within Unilever as well as group and team members. This includes external publications to drive reputation and programme in line with agreed strategy.
Establish strong networks with external parties including key opinion formers, academics, business partners and research organisations to ensure programme delivery.
Provide expert input and research to functions such as nutrition, claims, marketing and Global project teams
Embrace and create opportunities for change as science and the external world evolve.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

Essential: PhD in a relevant science area that integrates perspectives from human behaviour and physiology, such as psychobiology, cognitive psychology, behavioural neuroscience and experimental psychology. A good knowledge of behavioural science and willingness to work with theories and evidence from a broad range of fields including health psychology, behaviour-change and consumer science.

Desirable : A qualification and relevant experience in food, beverages, consumer-related, health or wellness fields. Previous research conducted on psychophysiological effects of tea ingredients is highly desirable.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Global travel may be required on occasion for key project or external meetings or to oversee research (less than once every other month throughout the year).
