JOB TITLE: Product Development Technologist

JOB LOCATION: La Lucia, Kwa Zulu Natal

DEPARTMENT: R&D

This role is only open to candidates who are eligible to work in South Africa.

Business Context and Main Purpose of the Role
Brings the necessary skills and expertise to develop relevant formulations, for
Global or regional product innovations, a part of a holistic product design, delivered to time and cost targets (OTIF).
Supports projects through effective and efficient delivery of trials (and preliminary analysis of results), product prototypes, technical reports and communication.
Contributes to the planning and executes trials, tests, measurement activities within projects.
Supports implementation in the business environment.


Main Accountabilities
To develop their formulation contribution to consumer relevant product innovation according to the key project deliverables.
Execution (and supervision where appropriate) of routine / standard trials at laboratory, pilot plant or full scale including comprehensive testing protocols for critical aspects of performance.
Accurate recording and reporting of data.
Development of prototypes for validation/proof of principle.
Define technical specifications.
Adhere to standards set by quality / safety / portfolio management systems in place such as SHE, BQ, DQS, IPM, Interspec etc.
Contribute to risk assessment and risk management plans.
Keeping abreast of developments in own area of expertise, delivering recommendations for new techniques, ways of working.
Where necessary, train/ develop others in own skill area

Minimum Education and Experience
Must have a completed Bachelor of Science degree(B.Sc) in either Chemistry or any related Major or a B.Tech Degree in Foods
Must have a minimum 2 years working experience in a similar capacity in the FMCG/Foods industry
