We are looking to hire a Process Owner – Experimental Data Capture in our Digital R&D team based in Unilever R&D Bangalore:

Project Background  -

Everyday thousands of Experiments take place across Unilever R&D:

· 
Science and Technology (Materials innovation, Process innovation, Physical sciences etc.)

· 
SEAC (Risk assessments, Human exposure, Toxicology, Innovation support)

· 
Consumer and Technical Insights (Claims assessments, Appraisals, Sensory evaluation)

· 
Design (Product stability, Microbiology clearance, Quality control, Process & operational efficiency)

The Experimental Data Capture programme aims to digitally record all measured and meta data related to a Unilever experiment, structure the data for it to be both human and machine-readable and make the data ‘discoverable’ to inform decision-making and reusable through modelling and simulation.

In support of this vision, Unilever has developed a toolkit of systems (Biovia’s ELN, SDC and Labvantage LIMS) used by Scientists, Product Formulators and Packaging Developers to record prototypes, experiment context and measured data.

The ELN, SDC and LIMS systems require continued development to meet new use cases and training out to the Unilever business, such that the systems are routinely used to improve the availability and accessibility of data as measured by the Data Quality Index (DQI).

Role Profile

The role of a Process Owner in Digital Transformation team in Unilever’s R&D Process Owner is a critical one fot the Experimental Data Capture programme, having operational responsibility for one-or-more IT systems within a ‘sphere of influence’ – the programme being broadly divided into knowledge capture (the context behind, methodology for and conclusions drawn from an experiment) and data capture (the conditions of and recorded measurements from an experiment).

The “Knowledge Capture” Process Owner is responsible for the day-to-day management of ELN and SDC and is accountable for the wider business process to record experiment ‘knowledge’ – this includes business partnering to evaluate new requirements and eschewing best practices in collaboration with the DRD Data Quality Lead.

Day-to-day responsibilities and tasks are listed below but may evolve in accordance with the programme strategy.

Key Responsibilities

· 
System stewardship

· 
Product and data ownership for ELN and SDC

· 
First point of contact for Knowledge Capture system requirements

· 
Data Quality representative across Experimental Data Capture systems

· 
R&D partnering

· 
Liaise with Business Group Digital Leads and SMEs for change management and rollout planning

· 
Liaise with Programme Lead for strategic direction, required funding and resources, and escalation of issues

· 
Liaise with Data Quality Lead for best practices and process optimisation for Knowledge Capture

· 
Managing the workload of Business Analysts assigned to the Knowledge Capture systems

· 
IT partnering

· 
Liaise with UniOps IT Manager and IT Service Owner for demand process, incident and problem management, and cyber security

Operational Tasks

Governance

· 
Project planning in conjunction with ELN and SDC IT Managers for releases, upgrades etc.

· 
Responding to Cyber Security requirements (Penetration Testing, Disaster Recovery, Access Control, SBD Assessment etc.)

· 
Monitoring User audits and resolving any issues e.g. inactive account audits, admin account audits

· 
Monitoring incidents via Yammer and L3 Support Reviews (monthly with ELN and SDC IT Managers and monthly with R&D Platform Manager)

· 
Ensuring ELN and SDC remain ‘best-in-class tools and evaluating alternative solutions i.e., through market analysis

Training & Communications

· 
Creating and updating Training materials (Scripts, Guides, Videos etc.)

· 
Leading and resourcing Training for new groups of Users

· 
Onboarding activities associated with new User groups

· 
Reporting on Data Quality compliance

Development and Support

· 
Prioritising new requirements for ELN and SDC

· 
Leading and resourcing Testing of new releases and upgrades

· 
Liaising between L1/2/3 Support Teams and Users

Skills - Essential

Be a Science and Engineering professional, with a working knowledge of  R&D business processes.

Fully operational with proven experience in product design and New Product Development in the CPG space.

Familiar with laboratories, pilot plants and manufacturing in CPG industry, ability to craft user journeys for experimenters, identify data attributes, be able to design data capture templates in common laboratory management systems

· 
Must Excel At:
