Job description

Background & Purpose of the Job

The Process Engineer role is critical to the development of our factories to World Class, which means zero defects, zero waste and zero losses. She/he will apply extensively the full range of Focused and Quality Improvement methods and tools to counter losses identified in the areas of Safety, Quality, Cost Deployment, Customer Service and Logistics. The Cost Deployment pillar will be populated with data built up through application of the Managing Manufacturing Performance Code, which is key to ensuring focus on key losses. Working directly with the line crews on a daily basis the Process Engineer also acts as the technical trainer for line teams and provides coaching in phenomena identification, root cause analysis and the establishment of counter measures.

The Process Engineer is responsible for the validation of all process improvements and the establishment of revised basic conditions on the line. A core deliverable is to eliminate losses and waste and increase the stability of the line to support the transition of traditional line teams to semi-autonomous teams.

Manufacturing & Packaging Technology. Rely on basic but consistent understanding of the manufacturing technologies of the Category to drive relevant process improvement.

Consumer & Customer Focus. Building world class factories will eliminate losses and ensure that we do not pass on the cost of inefficiencies to our customers and consumers.

Bias for Action. By providing consistent and near real time information, decisions can be taken quickly which leverage our resources.

Building Talent & Teams. Our vision is to move to semi-autonomous teams and we require process engineer’s with a passion for achieving results through great teamwork, an ability to teach new tools and methodologies and ensuring that you and your colleagues are fully aligned, and drawing on one another’s strengths.

Engineering. Apply technical engineering skills (Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical) to do practical problem solving and lead improvement projects.

Accountability & Responsibility. Taking responsibility for building your team’s performance and sharing your best interventions to help support others in their improvements.

WCM. Apply the full set of WCM methods and tools to identify root causes, define counter measures and validate their effectiveness; mastery of AM, PM, FI, QC and Logistics methods and tools. Establish standards to support line operators sustain new basic conditions.

Process and Organizational Design. Leverage technical knowledge and a systems approach to ensure factory lines and processes are optimally resourced

Analytical capability. Collect and analyze complex data to penetrate problems’ phenomena and understand root causes.

You’re a born leader: Leads Kaizen Teams to deliver WCM driven plans for the site. In charge of eliminating waste; reducing losses; improving OEE and assisting in boosting morale of employees.

You’re a teacher:  Technical resource for Site Team. Provides guidance to site team on continuous improvement methodologies using a cost-benefit approach to decision making.

· 
You’re a changemaker: Participate in establishing company-wide best practices and standards.

· 
You’re a culture & change champion: Launch new programs and improvement initiatives for site by engaging both hourly and salary team.

What You’ll Need To Succeed

· 
0-2+ year of experience in Continuous Improvement Methodologies (TPM, WCM or Lean)

· 
Problem solving skills and good understanding of root cause analysis

· 
Ability to lead and implement projects up to $1 million

· 
B.S. /B.A. in nuclear/chemical/industrial/mechanical/electrical engineering and/or other related technical discipline

Pay: The pay range for this position is $55,300 to $82,900. Unilever takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs.

Bonus: This position is bonus eligible.

Long-Term Incentive (LTI): This position is LTI eligible.
