Your Role

Job Purpose – This newly created role is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic, energetic and bright paralegal to learn and gain new experience in a truly international role. You will work closely with the Chief Legal Officer (Europe) and provide general commercial legal support including the drafting and negotiation of agreements, IP/trademark advice, research questions and ad hoc queries. There will also the opportunity to work on data privacy, corporate and marketing law matters.

In addition, we need a tech savvy paralegal who can lead a project to help digitize the legal function and work with the wider business to streamline the contract management process. We are in the process of setting up a new legal document management system and we want the paralegal to help roll this out throughout the Upfield business. Possibility of travel.

Main Responsibilities –

· Commercial : preparing, reviewing and negotiating third party NDAs, assisting with the preparation and drafting of procurement, sales and marketing related agreements, and helping develop the internal suite of standard form documents.

· Intellectual Property: being a liaison between the Upfield International business and trademark agents helping to manage and register trademarks, designs and domains. You will also be the custodian of the IP Policy.

· Team Administration: helping to set up a digital legal platform for the legal team, managing the transfer and organisation of huge amounts of data hard and establishing online templates/precedents which can be accessed by the business. Providing training on the new legal systems and assisting in changing the culture of the business

· General: assisting on a broad range of ad hoc matters, legal research, responding to enquiries from across the European business on corporate, privacy, food law and marketing related queries.

Skills/Background:

· Prior legal experience essential - LLB (or equivalent degree with GDL) or LPC

· Bright, pragmatic and keen to learn

· Well-rounded, confident, self-starter with excellent interpersonal abilities

· Tech savvy and strong IT skills

· Comfortable working with people of different cultures and backgrounds

· Strong organisational management skills
