Warehouse Employee – Hammond Plant
SUMMARY
Operates forklifts and production equipment in consumer products manufacturing environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
§ Successful operation and production on all line equipment used in packaging soap for shipment to customers
§ Performing quality inspection checks, troubleshooting equipment and trends, maintain logs and reports
§ Coordination with Manufacturing and Warehouse operations.
§ Communicate information about production data and equipment conditions
§ Use of Forklift to move, load and unload various types of incoming and outgoing materials.
§ Can follow finished good production processes and scanning for finished good pallets.
§ Successfully operate 5 mechanical palletizers which build all finished good pallets.
Successfully operate stretch wrappers and labeling equipment.
§ Performing cleaning, inspection and lubrication on production equipment.
§ Able to quickly load pallet magazines and move finished good pallets into storage bays and trailers and keep up with production demands.
§ Use of forklift to load outbound trailers
§ Perform troubleshooting on equipment when conveyors or sortation lanes have jams or other issues.

§ EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED required, as a minimum. Post high school education preferred, Associates degree from vocational school a plus. Successful candidate will demonstrate mechanical aptitude and Leadership decision making skills. Must be able to work autonomously and keep production running without direct supervision all the time.
§ LANGUAGE SKILLS
English literacy required. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine production records and log sheets.
§ MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
§ REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
§ SPECIAL SKILLS AND TRAINING
Skilled in basic use of computers and production software. Must demonstrate mechanical inclination and aptitude. Must pass Mechanical and OPQ assessment. All pallets are electronically tracked so must be able to scan and enter information into production system.
§ PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move heavy items occasionally weighing up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to stack cases on pallets on a daily basis.
§ WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to work rotating shifts and be available to work weekends and holidays in environment with regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and airborne particles. The successful candidate must be able to work overtime as needed. Employees must successfully handle toxic or caustic chemicals and must be able to wear appropriate protective equipment consistent with the chemical. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, wet and/or humid conditions, high, precarious places, heat and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, consistent with a high capacity packaging operation.
