Business Context and Main Purpose of the Job

About Unilever International

Unilever International is Unilever's White Space Arm. As the 9 th global cluster, we work across US, Europe, Africa, AMET, South Asia, SEAA and North Asia to fill white spaces for Unilever. On one hand we are completely responsible for building all of Unilever's brands in white space geographies like Korea, Pacific Islands, Mongolia and on the other we are now leading the launches of big brands like Lifebuoy, Sunlight, Fair & Lovely, Tresemme among others into big markets like the US, China, Western Europe and SEAA.

As Unilever's growth engine, we are thirdly responsible for creating a global white space business in alternate channels like Duty Free ( 66bn $ globally), E Commerce Seeding in China and India, marketing to Institutional partners like the United Nations and seeding Unilever brands to overseas diaspora who miss their home brands.

Singapore is UI's global hub which leads strategy, marketing thinking, seeding plans, alignment with the global categories and supply chain. Main Job Purpose

The Marketing Manager NAMET RUB AFRICA is based in Dubai and will play a key and strategic role in the achievement of this ambition of doubling the business. This role will play a strategic role in opening up new white space markets for Unilever in North Africa, Middle East including GCC, UNICA, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, building a large ethnic portfolio in the middle east across Pears, Lakme, Bru, Taj, Eskinol, Brylcreem, open up the RUB market to seeding laundry, household care, Vaseline, premium personal wash and seed multiple categories into Africa which are currently white space. The role will also craft and lead the strategy for premium personal care brands like St Ives, Simple, Suave, Impulse for the GCC markets which have some of the highest per capita incomes in the world. The role will also anchor some of the key global categories for UI such as refreshments and epicurean premium foods. The role will also support the CD teams to help seed brands into alternate channels like E Commerce, Institutions, Oil & Gas among others. The launches lead by this role are expected to deliver an iTO of 40mn in the coming 3 years.

As a thought leader, this role is expected to pioneer the thinking on how to develop brand seeding models, leverage digital and shopper marketing to build brands rapidly, partner with global and regional BD teams to analyse the market and lead the cross functional UI teams to land innovations in market fast with impact.

Some of the key deliverables for the role will be

- Deliver a Gulf seeding strategy for premium and niche PC brands

- Develop a digital and social marketing plan for seeding and brand launches

- Develop White Space Launch toolkits for HPC and Foods brands including ATL, BTL and Digital

- Analyse global white spaces, pitch to category GCLTs for launch and lead launches

- Launch key niche brands across white spaces

- Average Time for a roll out innovation in market – target 100 days from idea to in market

The pace of innovation and launches in this role is probably the highest in the Unilever world. Hence the marketer who leads this role will have a high bias for action, deep passion for building brands, openness to new ideas and approaches, willingness to work with the team to make an impact on the market and a sense of responsibility, measuring performance by results.

The role will report into the Global Marketing Director for Unilever International based in Singapore and will have a Assistant Brand Manager reporting into the role. The role will interface with all Unilever categories at Director / Brand Manager level and UI supply chain and finance teams across UI
