Job description
Business Context and Main Purpose of the Job
Home Care R&D Shanghai smart machine team is responsible for new business model related product design, technology development and innovation for both China and the rest of the world.
This individual will be responsible for product development for home care product for North Asia region. He or she is expected to have strong knowledge on smart machines and knowhow on consumer insight, product development and validation, which will enable him/her to drive innovation and new technology development for Home Care product.
Meanwhile this role also taken the responsible of helping home care team to drive digital transformation and uplift digital capability.
Main Accountabilities
Key accountabilities are:
· Drive HC smart machine & auto dose development and establish device toolbox for GHG and Plastic reduction. Perform knowledge/expertise based on mechanical design tasks that are medium to high in complexity (50%)
· Coordinate R&D activities in project delivery. Be accountable to design correct product mix for consumers. (20%)
· Support line manager to build up HC digital capability and increase operation efficiency. (20%)
· Support line manager to figure out platform strategy and work for smart machine innovation pipeline (10%)
A) Executing routine product development tasks:
· Smart machine development for home Care products based on consumer understanding and internal & external standards.
· Explore new technologies to be superior in the market and be sustainable.
· Report technical work for innovation projects.
· Monitor competitor new launches and product analysis.
· Raise clearances such as patent/regulatory/safety.
· Patent application for new design and solutions.
· Involve in external cooperation project. Deliver project target through the close cooperation with suppliers and external 3rd parties, eco-system.
B) Lead project activities:
· Ensure smart machine development tasks are executed as per project timelines.
· Represent TPL or product development in smart machine project team meetings.
· Well connect with global digital team and implement global digital tools to region.
· Based on region needs to implement automation upgrade and auto lab extension.
· Provide technical expertise to support cross functions/customers do trouble shooting.
C) Performing the following knowledge/expertise based on tasks :
· Assess and analyse products performance, device validation and data analysis.
· Write supplier briefs and communicate with 3rd party to ensure they deliver as per needs.

- Formulation, CTI, processing, packaging, SEAC, patent
-Global Technical project leaders and digital team partners
Outside R&D: Brand team, Supply Chain, Finance teams, Procurement

Key Skills
Relevant Experience
· Minimum Master’s Degree in Mechanical engineering / Chemical Sciences / Engineering
· Have smart device development experience
· Ability to manage and coordinate multiple project tasks
· Good team player. Can seamlessly manage multiple interfaces in projects
· Good communicator in English
