SALARY – circa £30,000 depending on experience

MAIN JOB PURPOSE:

The Deodorants Category is the fastest growing category in Unilever with three of Unilever's most iconic brands in Rexona, Axe and Dove. Growth through innovation is at the heart of the Deodorants Strategy. Unilever is the biggest player in the global Deodorants market and is determined to set the agenda for this category.

This job is based in the formulation function within the Global Design or the Regional Deploy Centre. You will be working to deliver brand projects and formulation work streams as well as supporting the deodorants formulation strategy.

· Business context:

o Responsible for delivery of either one or a number of innovation projects or a non project area autonomously

o Coordinate formulation work, either complex formulation challenges on a large project or all formulation changes across a brand portfolio of projects

o The job also includes coordination of claims and all supporting technical documentation

· Key challenges:

o General project management issues and influencing others to achieve alignment

o Creatively resolving formulation issues – e.g. fragrance instability, product safety clearance

o Achieving agreement and creating substantiation for claims

JOB SUMMARY

· Support and assist the Manager / Technical Project Leader on all aspects of project management working across multiple projects. Will deputise for the Manager / Technical Project Leader when required. Ensure regions / countries receive good levels of project support and communication.
· Manage innovation projects as the Technical Project Leader on small / medium projects or formulation leader for non-project area (i.e. business support), all of which require limited support from a manager to deliver.
· Coordinate creation of project management technical documentation by gathering cross-functional and regional / country input. Ensure all project risks are clearly identified in the documents and highlighted within the project team. Take initiative to update stakeholders when required. Input all formulation information to decision gate documents.
· Lead a formulation work-stream within a large project (or multiple streams in smaller projects) to deliver formulation changes which need to be safe, compatible with packaging and supply chain, and meet consumer and brand requirements. Ensure the formulation undergoes relevant technical testing interpreting results as required. Communicate updates to the project team and to the formulation community making recommendations.
· Lead product claims generation and support, gaining input from regional teams / countries and coordinating with other functions to substantiate claims. Write supporting documentation ensuring regulatory and legal requirements are met.
· Formulation contact for a brand providing information to other functions / regions / countries when questions / issues arise.
· Creative problem solving for both formulation issues and project issues overcoming major barriers.
· Lead and support the everyday work plan for Temps / Students / New starters within the team, including training and coaching. Delegate and set laboratory work where appropriate.
· Play an active role in leading significant areas of the Formulation Strategy and other departmental initiatives.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduate calibre (Sciences)

Relevant experience:

· Project Management
· Claims development and support
· Science / lab background
· Formulation development

Some travel within the UK is required on an infrequent basis

Driving Licence preferred.
