Job description
Reporting to the Continuous Improvement Engineering Manager, the main purpose of the role is to provide optimisation and improvement solutions to all aspects of equipment performance using World Class Manufacturing principles, loss analysis and tools.
On a daily basis you will carry out Breakdown analysis, lead and support process improvement projects/activities. Ensure that improvement projects can be implemented with minimum disruption to the manufacturing operations. Develop and implement standards and procedures by coaching and training teams of operators and line technicians
Continuous Improvement Activities
· Training and development of technical and engineering colleagues and manufacturing operators in engineering and improvement skills and techniques.
Develop Autonomous Maintenance and Professional Maintenance schedule standards
Lead and participate in Kaizen improvement projects (inc. Major/Advances Kaizen)
Roll out maintenance prevention techniques (CBM)
Providing input into Early Equipment Management initiatives
Use World Class Manufacturing tools and techniques to analyse and optimise equipment performance and condition
Develop One Point Lessons, Standard Operating Procedures and Standard Maintenance Procedures to ensure best practice for machine operation and maintenance.
Proactively respond to site losses and inefficiencies
Develop processes enabling changeovers to be completed speedily and safely
Support identification of critical spares requirements and optimising stock holding levels in Engineering Store
Adherence to Site and Legislative safety standards (Codes of practice)
Involvement in safety and risk assessments as appropriate.
Work closely with the Engineering Manager to ensure budgets and priorities remain a focus and deliver R&M target
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
• First degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical or Chemical Engineering or Completed a recognised engineering apprenticeship - ideally in a food related industry.
• With a minimum 3 years' experience in continuous improvement of manufacturing equipment.
• Ideally Mechanical and Electrical Multiskilled
• Previous leadership/project management experience within a manufacturing or R&D environment driving process improvement activities.
• Experienced in the use of continuous improvement methodology eg: World Class Manufacturing, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) or Lean Manufacturing.
• Broad knowledge and experience of equipment maintenance and principles.
• Excellent team management, communication and presentation skills.
• Excellent analytical skills.
• Strongly driven by a safety culture.
• Good understanding of financial concepts.
