Who You Are & What You’ll Do:
Substantial eDiscovery expertise is a key requirement for the eDiscovery Senior Counsel / Associate Director position. The primary responsibility is to ensure the seamless execution of Unilever’s eDiscovery processes, both internally and with our vendors / outside counsel. This position requires the ability to translate the technical requirements of eDiscovery into easily understandable terms and to work constructively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders across the business. We’re seeking team players that have a passion for using technology to solve problems in new and innovative ways.
The position reports into the Associate General Counsel, Global Litigation. This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, but proximity to Unilever’s U.S. headquarters in Englewood Cliffs, NJ is desirable.
What You’ll Need To Succeed:
· Assist attorneys, paralegals, litigation managers and outside counsel with eDiscovery matters, and collaborate with litigation support vendors and the records & information management function
· Provide input on technology options to respond to specific discovery needs
· Assist in execution of eDiscovery operational tasks, including collections, evidence management, data processing, review support, and productions
· Maintain oversight of eDiscovery vendors
· Provide guidance and training to outside counsel as needed
· Assist in the remediation of technical errors that may arise in data processing and review platforms (e.g., Relativity)
· Update and maintain internal documentation/playbooks by reviewing internal protocols and standard methodology, and then refreshing appropriately as new releases of software are published or as new data sources become available
· Contribute to regular briefings on new technology and process improvements with regard to eDiscovery, especially with the advent of AI
Required Qualifications:
· 5+ years of experience in all aspects of the eDiscovery lifecycle including document collection, evidence management, data processing, review support, and production
· Thorough knowledge of the litigation discovery process and the EDRM workflow
· Ability to perform complex searches in Microsoft Purview
· Knowledge of how to perform advanced searches/analytics in Relativity; generate Search indexes; and set up workflows, permissions, and Case Dynamics
· Ability to manage document review vendors and assess their respective performance, ensuring they meet service level agreements (e.g., productivity and costs)
· Advanced hands-on experience with Technology Assisted Review / Active Learning, including ability to create and troubleshoot Active Learning projects in Relativity
· Ability to write scripts for workflow improvements, utilities, and/or data manipulation
· Demonstrated ability to generate complex productions out of Relativity
· Ability to advise expertly on technologies including Microsoft Office Suite, M365 Purview, collaboration platforms (Microsoft Teams) and other data applications
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
· Ability to balance multiple concurrent projects and requests
· Ability to work as part of a team and sustain collaborative relationships with all stakeholders
· Strong attention to detail
· Strong project management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
· 3+ years of experience at a leading eDiscovery vendor/consultancy
· Experience in an information technology (IT) environment, preferably including understanding of how databases are set up and designed
· Continued education on evolving technology (including generative AI), legal requirements, and best practices
· Relativity Certified Administrator (RCA) certification
· Law degree

Pay: The pay range for this position is $135,600 to $203,300. Unilever takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs.
Bonus: This position is bonus eligible.
Long-Term Incentive (LTI) : This position is LTI eligible.
