JOB TITLE: BIG DATA ANALYST (previously known as Customer Insight Analyst)
JOB LOCATION: La Lucia Durban, KwaZulu Natal
DEPARTMENT: Customer Development
MAIN JOB PURPOSE:
· The main focus is on driving the Unilever Promotional Evaluation agenda (OPSO), using all available tools to assess which promotional packs and mechanics generate a positive return, and in turn encouraging the internal teams to focus on the good promotions.
· The analyst position is designed to provide next level analytical support for National Account Teams and Category Teams. The goal of the position is to streamline & consolidate the overwhelming data flowing around the business into relevant buckets in support of on-going business planning both internally and with customers.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The role consists of 4 key responsibilities as follows:
1) OPSO using PPM (global ROI tool)
2) ROI enhancement (which packs & promo combos work by category & customer)
3) Sales Out Data through Advantage
4) Capability building of the CD team on the above elements
In practice, you will be required to do:
Analysis :
· Consolidate, review, and analyze multiple data sources (CMI, TCM, COM, Aztec, ACNielsen)
· Turn information/data into relevant & actionable insights for incorporation into the National Account Manager's Customer Business Plans
· Provide insight into ongoing business performance proactively highlighting gaps to be closed (e.g. lagging categories, innovation distribution and/or performance below target, ineffective promotions below expectations, etc.)
· Focus on pre-evaluation, ie determine right pack, right promo mechanic BEFORE the promo kicks off
Step-change behavior within account teams & category teams:
· Provides recommendations to National Account Managers based on cross-category learnings, towards improving promotional lifts and trade investment efficiencies
· Improve communication on business performance both internally and to the customer towards an improved understanding of the business & transparency of issues & opportunities
· The analyst is expected to be fully proficient in the use of all data systems (EIS, ACNielsen, Aztec, etc.) and to fully understand the category/brand strategies (TCPs, CBPs, BMPs, etc.) across their assigned portfolio
· The analyst is also expected to have a strong understanding of the customer, the channels they play in, and their overall strategy in order to provide the NAMs/Assistants with plausible growth opportunities & solutions to issues affecting the business
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/COMPETENCIES:
· Degree
· 2-3 experience within an FMCG environment
· Strong analytical DNA & good numeracy
· Fully proficient in the use of all data systems (EIS, ACNielsen, Aztec) – training will be provided on the job
· Strong rigour and order
· Self-starter
· Strong influencing skills
· Ability to work cross functionally (Supply Chain, Finance & Customer teams)
