MAIN JOB PURPOSE:
Personal Care (PC) is a key strategic area for Unilever, and Hair, being the largest category within PC, follows a very ambitious growth agenda.
Unilever is amongst the biggest global Hair companies in the world, with a combination of powerful global brands such as Tresemme and Dove; stronghold local brands, such VO5 and Andrelon; premium brands such as Nexxus and more affordable propositions such as Alberto Balsam. We develop exciting mixes spanning across different consumer profiles, needs and expectations. The R&D team is constantly developing and deploying a range of technologies and product approaches across a rich portfolio including wash and care (shampoo and conditioners), post wash masks, aerosol styling as well as other styling formats.
The PC R&D Deploy Hair team is responsible for all go-to-market activities for the EU portfolio, including launching new technologies in Europe and extending existing ranges; developing innovation and renovation projects for regional activities for global brands as well for a wide range of local jewels. We also work closely with supply chain and procurement to deliver value improvement programs and to provide ongoing business support. The PC Deploy team works closely with the R&D Design (global development centres), cross-functional regional and country teams (marketing, sourcing units, procurement).
The Hair Deploy CTI team is part of PC Deploy team. The key role of the CTI team is to deliver consumer technical insight to drive business opportunity for Europe; deliver the substantiation for and defend thru challenge, consumer relevant product claims by interacting in a multi-disciplinary business environment, providing a critical link between Local and Global R&D, Legal and marketing and deliver outstanding communications for our innovations that are robustly supported in technical and consumer understanding. Also to partner global R&D and the marketing team for full communication plan
The job holder will work closely with other development functions, supply chain, procurement, planning, packaging converters, mould makers, and machine manufacturers.
JOB SUMMARY
Act as advocate of the consumers to translate consumer needs into technical targets, translate technical benefits into consumer-friendly claims and communication.
Drive local insight generation through full utilization of internal capacities globally, alternatively, brief and partner with external agencies/supplier to achieve the same objective
Provide to the global team ideas for product demonstration which are preferred by local consumer/customer
Collaboration for claim generation and substantial for countries in Europe.
Consolidation of local feedbacks and requirement to global CTI team.
Manage technical support in challenge cases
Partner to global CTIC network
Passionate about personal care products. Actively scout trends and monitor competitor activities for new opportunities to help shape strategic innovation plan with stakeholders for the region.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: Bachelor Degree in science or social science, chemistry, psychology and related areas
Experience: consumer research experience and/or development experience; technical product evaluation (appraisal, clinical, instrumental expertise, sensorial); understanding of legal marketing law and product regulations; broad category technical understanding of formulation; consumers and the testing methodologies used to access product performance; interpersonal and communication skills; analytical capability for results interpretation and creative ability to translate complex product information into simple consumer stories
Ability to work in multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural teams, with the drive and ability to control own work programme and make own decisions when required.
Ability to communicate effectively internally and externally
Ability to get messages across through modern media. (eg, telcon, skype)
Flexibility in work style and being able to manage a portfolio of projects and tasks in parallel
