MAIN JOB PURPOSE:
The Deodorants Category is the fastest growing category in Unilever with three of Unilever's most iconic brands in Rexona, Axe and Dove. Growth through innovation is at the heart of the Deodorants Strategy. Unilever is the biggest player in the global Deodorants market and is determined to set the agenda for this category.

The role of CTI is to act as the link between consumers and the products they use, providing insight and guidance to ensure the category delivers outstanding products, claims & demos for the Deodorant brands.
The model in CTI is to develop roles along two routes; project support and functional excellence roles.

JOB SUMMARY
The key job role is to support Category projects in the area of functional excellence as well as playing a leadership role for some elements of the strategic plan.
Key Challenges are:
· Working with external partners to deliver best practice tools and processes to build Category capability.
· Guide Deodorant projects in best practice tools and processes and support CTI plans delivering through self and others to support the Global Category Innovation funnel & deliver the strategy
· Lead, develop and execute strategic understanding plans for the Capability.

· Act as an advocate for the consumers on Global Deodorant projects to translate consumer needs and claims into technical targets and product stories.
· Scope out, pilot and roll-out new agencies, their methods and capabilities for strategic and category needs as appropriate.
· Understand and apply standard methods and when necessary design, adapt and/or input into novel methodologies as appropriate to suit study objectives. Scope out and share best practice amongst global/regional team and identify opportunities to roll-out novel methodologies to build capability.
· Analyse, interpret and report consumer data to a high standard OTIF and evaluate alongside technical data drawing out relevant insights/claims/ trends to build recommendations and next steps to shape products, packs and stories.
· Ability to mine, analyse and deep dive historical, technical and consumer data to identify big insights that will drive new product and pack opportunities for the deodorant category
· Be able to present data according to the audience: fully detailed debrief to technical teams and higher level summary at VP or SVP level as appropriate.
· Follow agreed ways of working and communication by building commitment and recommendation within the Global and regional CI communities then align with R&D before communicating to marketing.
· Act as a Global Deodorant and cross-category advisor providing inputs and recommendations to testing, methodologies and interpretation of results.
· Lead the creation, development and maintenance of appropriate strategic tools to enhance and deliver to the CTI vision.
· Lead capability elements of the Category CTI vision and strategic understanding plan

KEY REQUIREMENTS
· Graduate Calibre – degree in Science or social science with chemistry background or equivalent experience in capability field.
· Consumer research expertise
· Sensory and clinical testing
· Insight generation
· Ability to manage external partners
· Occasional travel may be necessary
· Flexible working to attend consumer research when necessary.
