Job description

Business Context and Main Purpose of the Job

For Home Care, we announced the “Clean Future” program and aiming to utilize materials from renewable sources, leverage the power of bioscience and synthetic biology to achieve superior performance and net zero for our products with technology innovations that continuously improve our exciting performance and sustainability.

We are looking for a senior bio-scientist / biotechnology expert / synthetic biology expert who is as passionate as us on homecare technology innovation and sustainability to join us in the creation and development of better performance, more sustainable, and more innovative technologies for our product portfolio.

He / She will lead and participate innovation projects for the research and applications of renewable materials and ingredients across our Homecare brands: OMO, Comfort, Love Home & Planet, Seventh Generation and The Laundress. He / She will develop new technologies from ideas through proof of concept to commercialisation enabled by the ecosystem network of academics, institutes and suppliers in North Asia.

Main Accountabilities

Work in R&D function for the research in Bioscience / Biotechnology / Synthetic Biology or Microbiology or Biochemical Engineering or Fine Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or Material Science area and perform as an active project / team member with following responsibilities:

1. Drive future-fit technology development and application of materials from renewable source for homecare product application.

2. Connect with local & global institutes, suppliers, 3rd party for synthetic biology / microbiome / biotechnology / bioscience and carbon upcycling technologies.

3. Evaluate the efficacy from raw materials to full formulation. Translate technologies into consumer benefits.

4. Deliver effective reporting of scientific data, including peer-reviewed publications, and patents.

5. Communicate and work closely with global R&D team to incorporate new technologies into products.

Key Skills

·  Strong experience in Bioscience / Biotechnology / Synthetic Biology or Microbiology or Biochemical Engineering or Fine Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or Material Science or related research with proven record of successful delivery of technical solutions
·  Awareness of business innovations – be able to drive from science discovery to new technology application in consumer products
·  Be pro-active and self-motivated to engage with project leaders and team members.
·  Be creative. Have team spirit, strong responsibility and clear logistic thinking.
·  Proficient in both written and spoken English
·  Experienced in (home care or similar product) formulation/prototype development is a plus.

Relevant Experience

·  PhD with 1-3 years working experience in Bioscience / Biotechnology / Synthetic biology or Microbiology is a strong plus.
·  Experience in biosurfactant, enzyme, microbiome, or related fields.
