BACKGROUND
The Group Chief Accountants Department (GCAD) is the primary custodian for Unilever's Group financial & management reporting and Global Financial Controls Framework, manages the global audit relationship with KPMG, determines and ensures adherence to Unilever's accounting policies, and many other projects related to how Unilever measures its performance and presents and communicates this to the external world..
JOB SUMMARY
– Reporting operations
– Ensure that the tax and pension accounting is performed in accordance with the applicable accounting standards and reported in the Group Financial statements (quarterly and monthly reporting)
– Own the relevant P&L and Balance Sheet notes in Unilever's Annual Report and Accounts (ARA)
– Analysis of the tax and pension numbers (P&L and BS components) to identify / understand any unusual movements and ensure that these are appropriately explained
– GCAD lead in addressing issues and queries for tax and pension reporting by countries, in coordination with the global Tax and Pensions team to finalize tax P&L and Balance Sheet components
– GCAD lead to support Latin American countries and Operating Centres for financial accounting and reporting requirements (e.g. v100 & v800 submissions) and management reporting (PL related) queries
– Control operations – Order to Cash
– Lead the Controls Process Improvement Meeting for Order to Cash, and ensure completion of actions arising from this meeting
– Drive implementation of Global Financial Controls Framework
– Address and resolve queries on Order to Cash controls originating from CSC, O2C Hubs and countries. This will involve regular engagement with relevant stakeholders, in particular, during Financial Controls Assessment (FCA) and annual compliance confirmation exercises
– Suggest improvements / changes to controls framework (wherever required)
– Work with KPMG for Group audit requirements on specific topics of ownership (e.g. tax, pensions, ARA notes, O2C controls)
– Identify accounting, reporting or controls training needs for countries & Operating Centres and support delivery of training as needed.
– Active participation in GCAD's ongoing and/or new projects, as identified by their manager
– Routine and ad hoc financial analysis
KEY REQUIREMENTS
Accountability and Responsibility and Bias for Action. The successful applicant must have the ability to meet rigorous reporting requirements & deadlines, quickly and pro-actively resolve issues, and manage stakeholders across various levels of the business (both within country & global teams).
- (Desirable) 3 – 4 Years' experience in Operating Centre or Country Finance function
- (Desirable but can be learned in role) SAP / finance knowledge
- Part Qualified or Qualified Accountant or International equivalent
