The Corporate Governance & Secretariat function (CG&S) serves as principal advisor to boards of directors on corporate governance matters, and leads and implements a world-class corporate governance practice throughout the Group providing end to end governance advice.

In this role you will:

•    Support  the delivery of various executive or board committees, including planning, scheduling and review of relevant materials to be submitted to meetings;
•    Support in the launch and delivery of strategic governance initiatives and functional projects; 
•    Support in the development of best practice corporate governance requirements and standards to be adopted by plc and subsidiary entities;
•    Be the process lead in the review and preparation of governance materials for disclosures owned by the CG&S function in the HSBC 
•    Holdings plc’s Annual Report and Accounts, Interim Report and Form 20-F; 
•    Manage a wide range of relationships, at the highest levels, with key internal and external stakeholders;

Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

·  A UK Qualified Company Secretary. Have had exposure to PLC Listed work.
·  Good knowledge of the HSBC Group and/or a similar large and complex organisation.
·  Financial services / UK regulatory experience is desirable but not essential.
·  Strong knowledge of corporate governance principles, including driving high quality governance standards.
·  Excellent planning, stakeholder management and attention to detail when ensuring delivery of complex projects requiring input from multiple different teams. Lateral thinking/problem solving/creativity.
·  Strong inter-personal, organisational, process management and verbal/ written skills including the maintenance and development of relationships with Directors.
·  Proven ability to work well with all levels of management, handle confidential and sensitive information, work independently and under pressure and handle multiple tasks.
·  Ability to think innovatively with a drive for continuous improvement.

This role is based in London or Edinburgh.
