We are currently accepting applications for a Structural Inspector to join our Quality team as a direct report to our Quality Manager.

As a Structural Inspector, the successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating structural components, which are manufactured both on and off site, using NDT techniques to identify any defects and collect data from testing for analysis.

Investigation of product problems will be required; this will involve interpreting results and making the decision on acceptance of rejection. They will also inspect and evaluate components that have been returned for warranty claims meaning that the individual will have to actively seek out the opinions and conclusions of engineers.

 

Main Duties & Responsibilities;

·  ISO certification / Quality management systems support
·  Inspection and approval of components and materials including 1st off samples within the company ISO9001 quality system
·  Investigation of production problems, interpretation of results and decision making for acceptance/rejection
·  Use of SAP process for non-conformance transactions and Material Master data history storage
·  Inspection and evaluation of components returned for warranty claims with opinions and conclusions actively sought by engineers
·  Carry out dimensional checks of components / structures using CMM or portage table or required measuring equipment (micrometers, verniers, calipers etc)
·  Liaise with Quality Engineers / Design / Manufacturing
·  Contribute to NPI Advanced Product Quality Planning
·  New Product / Part introduction support
·  Cost reduction / resourcing/outsourcing support
·  Internal quality performance / process development

 

To be successful in this role, we believe you will:

·  Be a qualified/time-served welder (City & Guilds, HNC, Apprenticeship or the equivalent within a relevant discipline).
·  Have 3+ year’s work experience within a fabrication position within an automotive, marine, oil & gas or construction equipment manufacturing environment.
·  Previously have used co-ordinate measuring machinery (CMM) and the associated software packages.
·  Be able to work on your own initiative and make decisions,
·  Have strong communication and interpersonal skills to work cross-functionally.
·  Understand, discuss and read engineering drawings.
·  Be proficient in the use of computers (including Microsoft Office and SAP).

 

PCN Level 2 for NPI & UT is required, training will be provided.
