What you will do

Volvo Penta is developing the next generation of electronic control vessel system based on a software defined vehicle reference architecture common to the complete Volvo Group product offering.

To exploit the full potential of the new architecture which includes several domains for the on-board embedded applications (service oriented and real time) a complete refactoring of the application software is being investigated.

 

Thesis work objective:

 

·  The main objective is to define an architecture for the embedded on-board application taking into account technical and organizational constraints / criterias:
·  Real time constraints
·  Safety criticality
·  Cyber security
·  Available capacity in the different domains
·  Communication protocols securing communication between ECUs and their capacity, inter-domain communication.
·  Flexibility, Scalability, Maintainability, Configurability, Reusability.
·  Identify which parts of the application shall run on the real time domain and which parts on the service-oriented domains.
·  Propose a service-oriented architecture that fulfils the wanted criteria, considering the constraints.

Who are you?

Qualifications and Personal Profile:

·  Working on M.Sc in Computer Science, Electronics or Mechatronics…
·  Interest in computer science, software engineering & safety critical real time embedded systems
·  Interest in the marine use case. ​
·  Self driven, curious, with easy contact capability which can reach out to different people and collaborate, ask for help etc.
