What you will do

Volvo Penta is developing the next generation of transmissions, both for ICE and EMOB solutions and one part for those is to reduce losses in combination with reduced noise ( NVH ). To exploit the full potential of the lubrication system and propose the way forward. 

 

Thesis work objective:

 

·  The main objective is to investigate existing lubrication systems for marine transmissions.
·  Propose a lubrication system for bevel, cylindrical and planetary gears in a marine transmission that can both effectively cool and lubricate the components.
·  Understand the challenges with high rotational speed and heavy loads.
·  Explore different lubricants, water based included and their properties.
·  Consider factors as oil viscosity,  flow rate, low losses and temperature control

 

Your future team

 

It is a small skilled and creative team working with transmission development from an empty paper through prototypes until it reach the production line. Team spirit and knowledge sharing are important for us to be able to meet targets, but also our weekly Friday breakfast. Maybe it is your turn next week.

Qualifications and Personal profile:

·  Working on M.Sc in Mechanics....
·  Genuine interest in tribology, lubrication systems and transmissions
·  Boating interest 
·  Open minded and self driven
·  Enjoys teamwork and challenges
