Background
Todays Volvo Penta's D4/D6 engines have engine cover that has a double function as a design element and a protective cover to stand on. We want to design new covers with multiple functions as protective cover, design element and sound absorber.
The engine should have a futuristic and modern look.
Master Thesis Objective
Design new engine covers that include sound absorbent system.
Activities:
Benchmarking analyze from market
Investigate suitable materials
Design new engine covers with multiple functions
Sound absorption
Protective cover
Modern look
Allow for ventilation of certain components
Meet safety standards
Quick fixation system of cover to engine (quick access to engine components)
Create CAD model that we can print and test on real engine
CAE structure analyze in collaborations with CAE department
Qualifications and Personal Profile
You should possess these qualifications:
BSc/MSc student in any of the following fields
Design and Product development
Mechanical Engineering
Or equivalent education
Knowledge in 3D CAD software
Material science
