Job description

This is a exceptional opportunity to work within our highly valued Composite Materials Global Business Unit at Anaheim, CA manufacturing site. Anaheim is one of our largest manufacturing site and this position will manage a team of 14 individuals. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a strong production manufacturing and quality background.

The Quality Assurance Manager has responsibility for all aspects of the development, maintenance and continuous improvement aspects of an effective quality assurance system. This system must ensure compliance to Solvay, Regulatory (FAA, EASA), Industry (AS9100, NADCAP), and Customer specifications. The incumbent will partner with the site leadership team to create a world class quality culture with continuous improvement in systems, processes and mindsets & behaviors.

This position will provide leadership and management oversight to ensure all employees have the necessary skills and abilities to perform their jobs as outlined in the Quality Management System (QMS). The manager will encourage teamwork and foster an environment of continuous improvement to reduce quality defects. They will establish clear quality objectives and goals both within a Work Cell environment as well as across the site. The Quality manager will partner with the Site Manager and Leadership team to identify key quality performance projects that will reduce customer complaints, reduce material non-conformances and improve quality performance. They will also work cross-functionally with other sites and groups within the organization to implement systemic improvements and standards.

The Quality Manager is responsible for supervising the lab leadership, quality engineers, final certification specialists, LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System), configuration specialists, and hourly lab employees. He/She will be responsible for driving continuous improvement in laboratory performance.

The quality organization also provides technical assistance and service to both customers and plant personnel regarding quality issues. This position requires extensive contact with customers and other Solvay functions to answer questions concerning the quality of the product, specifications, analytical test methods, raw material or process changes, and technical data pertaining to the manufacture and performance properties of the material. This position coordinates and tracks all key quality metrics and maintains the customer complaint, nonconformance, and LIMS databases to reduce quality defects and respond to customers in a timely fashion and maintain quality standards. The quality manager is responsible for implementing and maintaining customer required SPC programs on targeted products and implementing source inspection as required by the customer.

This position has responsibility for managing and improving the site quality system, maintaining integrity of the site's quality procedures and documentation to maintain RC 14001 and AS9100 certification. He/She will conduct periodic reviews and audits to insure compliance with quality assurance manual. This position has responsibility for reviewing product specifications, physical, mechanical, and analytical methods for feasibility and capability, distributes product quality specifications for new and existing products prior to their implementation to production. Establishes and updates test methods used by plant personnel to assure products meet specifications. Reviews raw material specifications, monitors product improvement projects and design changes to assure quality standards are maintained as processes, raw materials and testing methods change.

Desired profile

Qualifications :

Required education:
BS in Engineering with Chemical Engineering or Material Sciences preferred

Required Competencies:
Performance and Results, Customer Focus and Integrity

Business and Technical requirements:

Three to five years management experience in composite materials, aerospace or highly regulated manufacturing environments.

Demonstrated experience in laboratory testing including physical, mechanical, and analytical testing processes and equipment is preferred. Manufacturing and production experience needed.

Possess strong leadership and supervisory skills including the capability to be a good listener, inspire team members and drive results.

Ability to accept high level of accountability with very little direction from manager.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills including effective customer, peer and employee engagement skills.

Demonstrated knowledge in Six Sigma and or Lean principles,

Proficient in Microsoft Office.
