Job Overview and Responsibilities:

Basic Function:
Provide both routine and non-routine analytical support to Commodity and High Purity Peroxide, Shipping and Persalts processes.  Also provides analytical support to outside departments such as Sales, Environmental, Logistics and the Applications Lab

Principle Responsibilities:

·  Sets up, optimize, operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and instruments such as gas and liquid chromatographs, density meters, automated titrators, spectrophotometers (ICP-MS and ICP-OES),  balances and other equipment.
·  Tests raw materials for qualification and approval used in the production of commodity and electronic grade hydrogen peroxide and sodium percarbonate.
·  Analyze samples of manufactured products to verify conformity to specifications.  Provide final approval of shipments to customers based on qualification of finished product.
·  Record test results on standardized forms; inputs data into Lims, writes test reports describing results and procedures used and create COAs for final product shipments.
·  Prepares and maintains quality control charts.
·  Perform preventative maintenance and calibration of laboratory instruments.
·  Prepare chemical solutions according to standard formulas.
·  Write methods and procedures.
·  Orders and maintains supplies/chemicals.

Education and Experience:

·  College level coursework in chemistry or related science required plus 5-10 years laboratory experience.
·  Demonstrate specialized skills in at least one technical area with the capacity to function effectively in other areas.

Skills:

·  Ability to read, analyze and interpret laboratory data and technical procedures.  Ability to write technical reports and procedures as required. Ability to communicate analytical results to work group and internal customers.
·  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.  Ability to facilitate interpretation of analyses results using mathematical, graphical and statistical techniques.
·  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.  Must demonstrate good organizational skills and detail orientation.  The ability to multi-task is important.
·  Ability to work with personnel outside the Department to obtain and/or provide needed information and services. Proactive in improving departmental systems and practices.  Has a working knowledge of Department, Company, and Site policies.
·  Must be able to use a computer, and be proficient in MS Office applications including WORD and EXCEL, as well as LIMS.
·  Must maintain a safe work area adhering to safety, housekeeping, environmental and chemical hazards procedures.
