Job description

Solvay's Special Chem Global Business Unit produces fluor and rare-earth formulations for automotive, semi-conductor and lighting applications. With its industrial know-how, global presence and R&I proximity, Special Chem positions as a strategic partner for the automotive sector as a producer of materials used in emission control catalysis and aluminum brazing, and as a producer of cleaning and polishing materials for electronics. Special Chem holds worldwide leadership positions in fluorine compounds, brazing application and barium & strontium specialties.

Special Chem's Cincinnati, OH manufacturing facility is looking for a Lab Analyst I to work the 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. shift and be responsible for performing all routine and non-routine laboratory analytical tests of raw materials, chemical intermediates and finished good independently. The incumbent will work with the pilot plant and R&I on analytical testing for new products in the QC Lab, will set-up and standardize most test equipment and apparatus and maintain and review S.P.C. charts. In addition, the incumbent may be responsible for instructing less experienced analysts in methods. The role requires a strong focus on HS&E performance including, but not limited to:
· Approaching the job with the principle that all incidents are preventable by performing the job in the HSSE manner to protect yourself and those around you.
· Risk assessment is a mindset, where you are always assessing the harmful energy and thinking about means to avoid that energy.
· Take a proactive approach to maintain excellence in all your assignments

Desired profile

Qualifications :

·  High school graduate plus additional chemistry courses or added experience
·  Minimum of 3 years' experience in a chemical laboratory
·  Strong verbal/written communication skills
·  Ability to use various computer programs to access, input and retrieve data
·  Ability and commitment to wear required PPE such as hard hat, safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.
·  Physical ability to operate all laboratory equipment including x-ray, kilns and ICP
·  Experience performing QC releases through Weblims and SAP a plus
·  Experience performing routine maintenance of equipment and apparatus and setting up Gage R&R studies within a lab a plus
·  Ability to work 12 hour shifts - 7PM to 7AM and work some weekends
