Job description

As Data Scientist, you will be part of the Industrial Function, and join the Industrial Automation & Electricity Department of GEC, to bring predictive and big data analytics on Industrial topics. You report directly to the Digital@Industrial Manager.

You'll be involved in running analytical experiments on our process data sources in a methodical manner, and will regularly evaluate alternate models via theoretical approaches, becoming a part of an innovative and energetic team that develops analysis tools which will influence both our installations and our products.

From vast amounts of data available in the Industrial world, you will be applying data mining techniques, doing statistical analysis, learning techniques, building high quality prediction systems in order to optimize our production facilities, and integrate them with our MES and APC systems.

Responsibilities

Bringing Industrial Focus, you will work with many partners of the organization in order to:

Collaborate, better understand company needs and participate in the selection, implementation & administration of the Data Science & Big Data tools of the Solvay Group, from the data lake to the data science platform

Lead awareness workshops to explain analytics & big data industrial impact within Solvay Group and communicate results and ideas to key decision makers

·
Develop and implement new statistical or other mathematical methodologies as needed for specific models or analysis and keep up-to-date with latest technology trends

·
Translate business needs in Analytics requirements & insights

and interact with Industrial and operation team to

·
Seek and identify energy inefficient or highly variable processes where data analytic program will make production more efficient and create value.

·
Conduct proof of concepts and projects in data analytic domain, working with external consultants when required.

·
Selecting features, building and optimizing classifiers using machine learning techniques

·
Enhancing data collection, including through third party sources of information when needed, to include information that is relevant for building analytic systems

·
Processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis

·
Doing ad-hoc analysis and presenting results and impact on performances in a clear manner

·
Share and present results

Desired profile

Qualifications :

· 
Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Math or related field or field experience in data analysis

· 
Good applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, data mining, etc.

· 
Understanding of machine learning and predictive modeling techniques and algorithms

· 
Experience with programming languages such as Java/Python

· 
Some experience with common data science toolkits, such as R, C

· 
Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL

· 
Good scripting and programming skills

· 
Data and new technologies passionate

· 
Great communication skills

· 
Collaborative, open-minded and innovative
