Job Overview and Responsibilities:
The APC engineer is the technical responsible for Advanced Process Control projects development, design, implementation and maintenance in order to ensure safe and profitable manufacturing processes.
The position is based in Spinetta and mainly dedicated to Spinetta Production Units, but can be involved in projects at GBU level if requested.
The main tasks and responsibilities that the position has to perform are:
Development, Design, implementation, monitoring and maintenance of Process controls routines and methods in order to:
Ensure high performances and quality of the Automation Process Control at the best cost in accordance with applicable safety and environmental Solvay group state of the art procedures
Verify and ensure the correctness and completeness of the documentation produced internally and by the Outsourcing contractors
Management of automation project in order to ensure the plant manufacturing activities:
New Units or processes, extension or modifications of existing installations in collaboration with Manufacturing, Technology and Research and Engineering departments
Technical management of the Projects from basic engineering to start-up in cooperation with the relevant involved functions
Technical development, implementation testing and start-up of automation and process control systems
Participate in the selection of the technologies to be used for new applications and extensions of current/new APC projects following the directions of the Solvay Group on providers and State-of-the-Art Best Practices.
Education and Experience:
The person filling this position has an experienced knowledge or willingness to develop the following fields:
Process control:
Plant Dynamic Simulation
Process control algorithm development, prototyping and implementation
Classical control and signal processing theory
Process Engineering:
Instrumentation knowledge (valves, actuators, transmitters theory and practice of measure)
Thermodynamics (Mass and Energy balances, Reaction Kinetics…)
Fluid Mechanics (Reynolds…, Bernoulli,…Pipes Equations,)
Equipment knowledge (Pumps, compressors…)
Process Dynamic Modeling
Industrial IT:
Software for DCS, PLC,SIS (Graphcet, flow-diagrams, functional analysis)
Engineering flow and documentation management
Basic requirements and specification
Detailed Engineering development and follow up
Skills:
The APC engineer shall have and demonstrate skills in:
Development and industrialization of Automation solution from process design to implementation and start-up
